Rockefeller wasn't ever president. I think the president to rival him would have to be Jefferson when adjusted or maybe FDR, if I remember correctly. The top 15,000 earners in America today make half the GDP of Brazil which is the 7th largest economy in terms of GDP. We surpassed the income inequality mark of the Great Depression already, which was the previous high to my knowledge.

Re: Reid puts GOP in a bind over Romney's taxes
Jefferson was actually nearly broke most of his life. He spent money like Elton John and was barely able to sustain his lifestyle. George Washington was married to a very wealthy widow and he had his own money. Martha Dandridge Custis was almost certainly one of the wealthiest women in the colonies when they married, although I have no idea how to compare owning a large number of plantations to modern sums. Washington was by all accounts very good with his money also.

Re: Reid puts GOP in a bind over Romney's taxes
Until the campaign contribution rules are completely reformed, I really don't care about a candidates personal wealth. Its a giant popularity contest funded by corporations and special interest groups based on advertising like any other corporation. Campaigning for president wouldnt cost so much if media would report regularly on these guys throughout their careers instead of only when they run for office or have affairs. Ya know who I think should be President...who is the best governor...him. Hell let's just try that one time!
