No I didn't mean to imply that Biden would follow up Obama, my God I don't think this country would vote Biden in over Putin.

Just was making an example of that post above that stated a Repub would win no matter what in 2016...I don't think that's necessarily the case.

Here's an idea. Let's write Medicare and Social Security into the Constitution and take away the vote for anyone over 65. They get their precious safety net, but they can't deny it to the rest of us if we want one because when we do it, it's socialism, but gimme gimme gimme that check on the 1st.

America(usa) was actually open back in the days to having universal health care. The reason why it didn't end up going through was because of the Doctors association. They knew universal health care would bring their salary wages down as they couldn't set their prices on how much to charge people among other things. They got their lobby on and smashed that idea down.

I think this was around FDR as president if I'm not mistaken.

But when you cap the wages in a field you essentially cap the people going into said field. Intelligent people would move to fields where they'd get paid more. And that's actually a problem. Because where health care's concerned you kinda do want the best and brightest.

I was talking about that with a college professor once and she told me that the quality of doctors wouldn't change because they only do it for the prestige.

So I asked her if she would be ok with having her pay cut since people must only get their PhD because of the prestige. She wasn't happy about it.

Yeah, prestige without financial remuneration is why people record stupid videos they post on YouTube, not why they go a quarter million in debt. When you're placing that kind of bet you're looking for a reward on the other end.

Re: NBC: 3 sources indicate Romney will pick Ryan

what's funny is the disparity in health care costs between us and the rest of the developed world - we pay a hell of a lot more per capita and the quality of the care is at best equitable and depending on the country less than so

Re: NBC: 3 sources indicate Romney will pick Ryan

the really big explosion in medical costs comes from unnecessary scans and procedures. Some times the doctors are just being sleazy and some times they do it because they are afraid of being sued if they miss something that they do not need to look for. The bureaucracy involved in it all is probably more expensive than the doctors and nurses and such.

Re: NBC: 3 sources indicate Romney will pick Ryan

The other thing is that we essentially subsidise the rest of the world. We bear the burden of producing the drugs that get sold everywhere else at half the price. The generic form of the Advair that I take costs about a quarter of what the brand name costs. Add in the fact that we essentially pay for everyones armies and you have a recipe that allows those governments to spend more. If we got out of the private army business and made everyone else pay their fair share the "superior socialised medicine countries" would rapidly implode. (And to reiterate I am 100% in favour of the US getting out of the world police business.)

You are and it was the AMA, which only about 10% of physicians are a part of. Ronald Reagan actually was the narrator for a vinyl sent out to warn about the hazards of socialized medicine in the 50s produced by the AMA. Universal health care exists for the very poor, the elderly, government employees and the military. That adds up to about 60% of this country receive government funded health care. So it's the people who pay taxes who have to pay for their own healthcare.

Healthcare is going up because of usage. There are 20million people with diabetes in this country. 25% of the nation's population is between 45-64 and another 12% is over 65. Those are the age groups where people get sick.

People say that all the time. Where health care is concerned, I want the passionate and dedicated not the ones who are after a paycheck.

How many times does a doctor suggest surgery as an option right away? Surgery should be a last option.

How many kickbacks do doctors get for writing prescriptions?

How many times does a doctor refer you this buddy, or to a diagnostic clinic in which he has interest in/ co-owner.

Why must our health coverage costs continue to rise because the medicine field continues to raise its prices to exorbitant prices? This hurts small business owners.

Go see how much these drugs cost to make and how much we end up selling them to American citizens.

Go see these board of directors that approve drugs and look at how many of them have relationships with the drug company that they are about to approve.

If everyone ate an organic natural balanced diet, and exercised, we wouldn't need to see doctors as often. And with the way technology is moving one can basically self diagnose themselves just by going online. Do we need doctors? Of course. But we can't let any group get too much power because at the end, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
