And this is going to be blasphemy in the USA, but France has a better system.
I'd disagree, as individual beliefs and personal freedoms are granted in spades here. People have a 'right' to certain things in America as per the Constitution, while those same 'rights' are nonexistent outside the country. In the US, people assume they have a God-given 'unalienable' right to the 1st Amendment. IMO that assumption is straight up ridiculous.

Sure, every election campaign abuses the hell out of free speech with all the bullshit spewed on TV. But it's protected by the law.

I don't see how Brazil has a better system, and they have a crime problem that doesn't match the worst in Chicago and Detroit. The French one looks good on paper, but I've never been.

Man GTFO. You can't separate system from reality, like it's some kind of vacuum.

I wish the interaction of our Legislative branch was like England's. I think its great how their Prime Minister has to answer to the Parliament on issues and take questions from them while thinking on his feet. Dubya wouldn't have made it 3 months if he had to go to Congress and get grilled.

soooo let me guess... you didnt look the word up? and another guess: you are unaware that there are other countries with "belief systems" almost exactly like ours that use other "political systems" (say like a multi-party parliamentary system)? final guess: highschool drop out?

Re: Debate Night- Oct. 16

Reading this thread just makes me remember:

I mean, come on. You guys kid around, but lets be real, your countries a ****ing joke. Watching you sink over the years has been both hilarious, and upsetting at the same time.

Its funny when your presidential candidates still refer to you as the greatest country in the world.

Re: Debate Night- Oct. 16

If America was not the greatest country in the world, other people would not devote so much of their energy to trolling us. Meanwhile no one cares about the greatness of canada. Lots of people hate Lebron James. The only people who hate Jamaal Magloire are fans of whatever team he's on.

"Almost" is a weasel word. Make a specific claim and back it up.

There is no other country that has the American's political system, and the belief in the 10 rights stated on the Constitution. Please, name one.

As for R-Star, your 1 man anti-USA internet forum crusade is just getting old. You need to get more people in here to agree with you. Try starting a thread on Canadian politics. See how far it goes.

Diable... everybody hates the Yankees. They've got good reasons. Paul Ryan is A-Rod.

Re: Debate Night- Oct. 16

Chan, you're the epitome of why people dislike America. Someone who's accomplished absolutely nothing in their whole life, but insists on strolling around telling everyone that their opinion is right and everyone else is wrong. Why? Just because. Well that is unless something pops up where someone needs help. Then they run away as fast as they can, because helping people is beyond them.

Honestly buddy, you should be the poster boy.

I'm not all that keen on the parliamentary system because I don't like that your executive branch is basically the legislative branch. I like the separation of powers and that at least in theory the congress is a check on presidential power. But I guess in parliament the other parties in the coalition could just say "**** you prime minister, we aren't down with this bullshit anymore and you're not PM anymore". While in America Congress can't do shit because the president's party will protect him.

The only thing I can say for America is that we have the Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment and they actually mean something.

We're the most powerful and we throw around our power, that's why we're hated. That's different from "greatest" which everyone has a different definition for, but probably only involves torture and kidnapping and killing citizens without due process in the wet dreams of Sean Hannity.
