I would suggest the first volume of Alan Nevin's Ordeal of the Union, since you refuse to acknowledge the truth. Calhoun failed to start the Civil War, but he laid all of the groundwork for it. It's a damned big book though and full of actual facts without stupefying bias.

It's hilarious to me how many news outlets are reporting this as a "tie" going into the election. Whether that's actual polling data, conservative wish-wash, or a scheme of perceived liberal high-mindedness, there is no way to truthfully tell.

However, one thing is for certain. The majority of the citizenry either neglects entirely or fails to properly put characters and happenings into a historical perspective, and throughout the course of the election which culminates tomorrow that has certainly been the case. In a country where ignorance supercedes actual political awareness, it's only proper that we'd arrive at a point where an ill intended mass media has dominance over a historical course. Yet then again, perhaps it's all cyclical.

Tomorrow's a true gauge of America's awareness in regards to the rest of the developed, civilized reasoning world.

It's "balance". I heard Dick Morris say the exact same thing that Nate Silver is saying, namely that this is not a "close" election at all. Of course, Morris is a dishonest piece of shit, so he is predicting a Romney landslide for some reason. Conservatives, for the most part, have the same feeling of inevitable victory that liberals do, except instead of 538 they are relying on how many yard signs they see, how they don't know anyone who will vote for 0bummer, and unskewedpolls.com.

Do explain. I imagine you're trying to say that there is, in fact, an abundance of ignorance regardless as just about everybody will be voting for either Obama or Romney. But even that's vague when placed in the context of my post. The reality is one of these two men will be elected. In that logic, there is utility in your vote to cast it on which of the two you'd prefer to see in office. The majority of the sophisticated, reasoning world believes that man to be Obama. Tomorrow, we see if our own nation agrees.

Right, it is all the product of spin and ambitious duplicity. Yet there is no 'balance' to is whatsoever. A perfect balance exists only in a most idealized world.
