Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Wouldn't the "equivalent to the most ignorant conservative one could imagine" also be conservative? Am I missing something?
You stated that most of the "sophisticated, reasoning world believes that man to be Obama." I said that did not apply to where I live. Because it doesn't. Just like it doesn't apply in plenty of places.

Yes, apparently you are missing something. Of my post, you selected this quote in particular: "The majority of the sophisticated, reasoning world believes that man to be Obama." -- and responded to it, "ha". I provide evidence supporting my claim, and you respond "no, that's not at all true, and no facts you present will make that true because of where I live and the people I associate myself with". You presented the classic "cover my eyes and pretend that argument's not valid" approach, which I applied an analogy of an ignorant, hardline conservative to, which you mistook as a labeling of your character despite pinpoint grammar, including such words as "right now" (i.e., in this instance) and "equivalent" (suggesting you are acting as such, not that you are). You live in Georgia, I see that. So I see how my claim, my claim supported by science and reason, does not apply to where you live. Because a lot of things that are supported by science and reason probably don't apply in Georgia. Take, for instance, science and reason. |

Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Oh and that misquote?
Me interpreting you: "no, that's not at all true, and no facts you present will make that true because of where I live and the people I associate myself with" Actual you: "Post all of the graphs you want. Your statement is not true based on where I live. Hence 'ha'." "Yes, your statement is not true based on people in Georgia that I associate myself with." Yeah, I really misquoted you there. |

Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Because pretending that sophisticated and reasonable people will vote for Obama and everyone else will vote for Romney is a laughable statement regardless of the words that are fluffed around it.

And this? "Because pretending that sophisticated and reasonable people will vote for Obama and everyone else will vote for Romney is a laughable statement regardless of the words that are fluffed around it." This is one of the stupidest ****ing paragraphs I have ever read on this website. Ever. And you're a moderator. And, as you know in your capacity on this website, there has been a lot of stupid shit posted on this site. A lot. But this? Where did I say that: (1) Sophisticated and reasonable people will vote for Obama (a very loaded statement) and (2) everyone else will vote for Romney ..? If that is the point you think I was making, you need to go back and reread this thread five to six times. That's an arbitrary amount of rereadings required, but it certainly won't harm you. Edit: This post makes me come across as an ultra asshole, but I'm strangely cool with that for the time being. The stupidity of your statement does not necessarily lie in the statement itself; rather, it lies in you manipulating my statement, regurgitating it as if it were my premise, immediately after having been insulted by my misquoting which in all reality was a direct translation of what you had said, not at all distorting the premises and in fact slimming it for digestion. Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Why are you so mad? That post would have taken half as long to type without complaining about my position on a basketball message board staff. Oh well.
Wouldn't the "majority of the sophisticated, reasonable world" who "believes that man to be Obama" vote for Obama if eligible? And then what does that leave?

Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Oh, but I will say I stand fully by what was said of your moderation. Quoting a poster who makes a perfectly defensible point and replying "Ha." adds nothing to a discussion, which is something to be expected of a moderator. Further rejecting reason solely based on "where you live" and "who you associate yourself with", that's just laughable.

Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
Because the majority of sophisticated, reasonable people that live in this particular area are not voting for Obama. Which is why I quoted you in the first place.

Re: Paul Ryan is a flip-flopper
See, my quote actually utilized the words "sophisticated and reasoning", not reasonable. Misquote.
Let's go back to my original statement, with a bit of context this time around: "In that logic, there is utility in your vote to cast it on which of the two you'd prefer to see in office. The majority of the sophisticated, reasoning world believes that man to be Obama." To which I supplemented graphs that interpreted data showing that was the case indeed. You suggested I was wrong, because you live in Georgia. And that was your argument. And apparently, that's where we still are. Really chasing the tail on this one, aren't we? The majority of sophisticated, reasonable people in your area may very well not be voting for Obama. In fact, I'd presume that to be the case. But I never said it was not the case. |
