Re: Amendment 64 Passes: Colorado Legalizes Marijuana For Recreational Use
Depends where you are in the food chain, but those are very average prices. I wouldn't expect to pay any less than that. We live in the same state so it doesn't shock me the price ranges would mirror each other, but that's certainly not a "bad" price. 1/8th's do not sell for less than $60 90% of the time (again, unless you're up the food chain/know a guy who's up the food chain and you're a habitual customer). So 110/120 is right on par for quality stuff.

Re: Amendment 64 Passes: Colorado Legalizes Marijuana For Recreational Use
I'd guess that they'll be looking to tax it at the same percentage that you get on a pack of cigarettes or a bottle of liquor, over half the price. So you're talking about something around a hundred dollars an ounce minimum in taxes. Still how much could it really cost you to produce the stuff if you didn't have to worry about your door getting kicked in. Actually you'd want to make sure no one knew about it so they didn't try to steal it, legal or not. The law apparently says you have to grow it in a secure place, although who know what that means.

If it's legalized, it will be sold like cigarettes. Large plantations of marijuana will crop up and most people will just buy it rather than grow it. This could bolster more rural states' economies by becoming grow centers as well as reducing come in the atmosphere more efficiently than most plants.

Plus everything's cheaper out west, which is what's more applicable to this thread. When I was in Oregon, my friends had a connection for $35/60, and they had just moved out there. And that shit was good. No way will people buy it from a legal source at some absurd price.

I have a hunch most of the grown pot comes from Oregon. Low property values means you can get by with an hourly job, while getting most of your income from selling pot wholesale. Those houses would be very serviceable as grow ops.

I'm sure 99% of people will pay more for weed if it results in not having to worry about the sheriff breaking down your door because you have a dime-bag in your house.

Dude. When has a cop ever gone SWAT on your house over a bag of weed? I once had a DEA agent find my dub-sack, and he just nodded and put it back. No boss will pat him on the back for that.

Re: Amendment 64 Passes: Colorado Legalizes Marijuana For Recreational Use
Obviously I have never personally had an issue. But that doesn't mean others haven't. And it's more "We went into your house for x reason, and even though we didn't find what we were looking for we did find this bag of marijuana."

50 an 8th in Madison... 60 an 8th in the Milwaukee area... this is assuming we're not talking about shwag. 175 for a half ounce is a more economical way of doing it.... or...so people have told me....

What a waste of time.
Marijuana is still a federally controlled substance. Look for a fight coming to a federal courtroom near you (if you live in Colorado, that is). Or maybe not...maybe the feds will just make an example of Colorado and send all their pot-busting cops there.

No, it's the end of weed laws. It's going to be like cigarettes.

Re: Amendment 64 Passes: Colorado Legalizes Marijuana For Recreational Use
The Federal Government is going to decide whether or not to challenge this in the Supreme Court, but in the long run we're looking at Decriminalization and then perhaps Legalization. The logic behind it is overwhelming. You are wasting tons of money on a law that can not be practically enforced because one in seven Americans is using the stuff. You are giving a huge amount of money to criminal organizations which could be used for better purposes and then you are clogging up the court system and putting people into prison for something that just doesn't do a lot of societal harm.
