President Obama’s proposed 2013 budget shows a deficit, $901 billion.

Tax the rich increased $82 billion revenues. (increase 4.6% tax)

How can this balance the budget?

It will need to increase the tax to 86% of rich income.

Otherwise it has to be cut military budget from 900 billion to 450 billion.

American dream can not be cut!

that was though, without question- his main focus as to fixing what ails us. he has been beating this drum for over a year on the campaign trail. and the simple fact the media never dared question him on it is pretty shameful. bringing in another 60-80 billion a year to patch a pothole of well over 1 trillion new yearly debt is just smoke and mirrors. he did a good job of stoking the fire of class warfare.
he has spoken time and again about how the country thrived under clinton's tax system. he leaves out some critical truths though and unsurprisingly, his lapdog media never dared question him on any of it.
1) under the era of the clinton administration, 250k was more than it is now. to adjust for inflation, it would be like over 300k by today.
2) and this one is by FAR the biggest truth he either overlooks or ignores- during the clinton years, gas consistently hovered around 90 cents a gallon where i lived and i imagine for most of the country as well (about 4X that now) gas was dirt cheap and it was very cheap to travel and move goods. that is what really kept the economy moving.
none of that is true today.
ultimately, i don't care if they do raise taxes on the wealthier- it won't be more than a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the debt that accumulates. and then he won't have that crutch to hold onto anymore. i wish the republicans would let him have it. if they were smart- they would let him have it.

yeah, I suggest you read up on this more - the 2% thing just has to do with timing on the expiring bush tax breaks - the fiscal cliff issue is much larger and will require much more give and take - I expect changes to entitlements like pushing back age qualifiers for soc sec benefits, cuts in tax deductions and general tax code clean up, lowering defense budgeting at least in line with panetta's proposal and a lot more

I mean you want to bash the guy at least get it right - just like a few years ago where he couldnt be an overreaching socialist AND not have tried to do anything to save the economy, he cant be steering us toward a fiscal cliff caused by substantial across the board cuts in spending AND just thinking that letting the bush gift to the rich lapse will cure everything - I mean I guess you can but it just makes you look kind of dumb

The simplest solution would be to drop Medicare from a federal benefit to a state benefit and push all funds from Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security taxes to the states and have them be balanced with it.

Then end the war in Afghanistan. That's $1 trillion a year I just cut from the federal budget!

Bad idea, We California will have to file Chapter 13. How about no federal taxes for Californian the next 5 years?

30% of all homeless people reside in California. That makes for great difficulty for this state to take care of its populations when so much has to go to people who put in nothing.
