That is fact. Its in its infancy, and I'm sure over the years will be pushed and the numbers of related deaths will drop. That is logic. You brought up, "People who use guns to kill people are the same as people who use cellphones and drive." That is a bad analogy.

Re: The Gun Debate
No, I am not advocating banning anything. But many are advocating the banning of guns. Stupid people doing stupid things kill. That is what I am saying. There are more laws regulating guns than you can shake a stick at. they mean little to nothing to the stupid, insane, and criminal minds bent on reeking havoc on civilized people.

Also, the idea that "You can't prevent all deaths, so it's stupid to try to prevent any deaths" just doesn't make sense to me. |

Re: The Gun Debate
Common sense has no place in the American Political discourse, it's foolish to embrace any stance that does not involve the complete capitulation of all who disagree with you.

Re: The Gun Debate
What I have learned from this is that most of the people who are for banning a "type" of weapon are doing so because that does not really effect them in the least. It is easy to be on your moral high horse when it does not change your life at all. However, imagine the debate if Adam Lanza would have intentionally took his car and plowed through a bunch of kids and killed the exact same amount. Would people be calling for a ban on the tool used in carrying out the horrific crime? Of course not because then it would inconvience them and their lives.

Re: The Gun Debate
Except cars are designed to move people and things over land, but are dangerous when misused. Guns (service rifles like the AR15 in particular) are designed specifically to inflict injury and death in humans and do so whether used properly or improperly. Also, cars are way more strictly regulated than guns because they can be dangerous when misused.
So yes, the thing that is dangerous when misused is regulated more intensely than the thing that is designed to be dangerous. |

Re: The Gun Debate
Legislation will make it harder for the firearms industry to sell some newer/bigger products as well as reduce volume, and will be an inconvenience to some recreational shooters who want guns that are very high-powered or designed for military applications. Considering that banning pistols, revolvers, and shotguns isn't even being mentioned in any of the legitimate gun control debates nationally, the proposed legislation won't make it any harder for the average person to defend themselves or their families. That's another thing someone lied to you about.

Re: The Gun Debate
If you're buying a gun for home defense, you're paranoid. Unless you live in an area where home break-ins is common place and people are walking about strung out on drugs, a home break-in while you're home is a rarity. They'll just steal your gun while they're stealing your tv, couch and hi fi while you're at work.
