Japan is considering permitting its F-15 pilots to fire tracer bullets as warning shots against Chinese planes. The Global Times calls that "A step closer to war."

That's how you know someone is dangerous. When their constitution forbids them from engaging in military action outside of their borders, it is obviously just a pretext to extend their borders into the the dimensions of hyperspace.

Eh, joke all you want, China and Japan have taken a dispute over fishing rights (well, a dispute over Japan's history of militarism/colonialism on the East Asian coast) into a regional standoff. I doubt anybody's getting nuked, but it could create some real regional instability and suck America in as a mediator. Straining our relationship with China isn't a positive.

Why, what is China going to do? Destabilizing the USA is completely against the interests of China and that's all they can really do. They're going to war? How many major wars have there been since we entered the nuclear era? The cost benefit analysis doesn't allow it.

The problem is that there seems to be a large number of fanatical Nationalists in the upper echelons of the PLA and there is a good deal of question as to how much authority the Communist Party actually wields over the Chinese military. It seems that the opposite is true to a large extent, for example the new leader of the Party is associated with the PLA and there is some question as to whether or not anyone could ascend to the top spot without their support.

The stuff you read about the people in charge of the PLA make you wonder if they are not capable of doing completely irrational and self-destructive things. You don't get the impression that the Communist Party necessarily has a veto over them.

What corporation would side with China over the united states? Oh yeah, if China were to try and destabilize the us, they will lose all manufacturing and get bombed until the whole world agrees that the is no longer owes China anything.
