At 7:00 this morning the Police blocked off NE Weidler from 16th to 20th. They had two fire trucks, two armored wagons, about 15 trucks and SUV's, a full-sized Police district van, what looks like a bomb squad van, and another 25 cruisers around the blocks. Aparantly a shot was fired early this morning at a house and they took two guys into custody that were in their early 20's. Before going in they had about ten officers in full assault gear, a few in camoflauge. That was about 8:00am. They still have the streets blocked off and I heard 5 shots fired, a walkie-talkie suggested it was from an officer. There must be something more going on, maybe a drug bust. They have stopped some residents from returning to their houses for another half an hour.

The worst part about it is this Fire service truck that has had its engine running idle for over an hour and about 30 cops standing around drinking coffee and talking.

Okay, got a little more information.

Apparantly a house known for possible drug traffic between 20th and 21st was burglarized. The burglars got noticed or stopped and someone was shot, possible fatally. It is unknown who is currently inside, but the swat team is still surrounding the perimiter like a standoff situation, including snipers at the corners. Residents near the site are not being allowed to return to their homes. It appears this may last a few more hours. If it is a drug house, then they will be here the rest of t he day gathering evidence.

Don't try and use Broadway or Weidler today.

Now they say they have been through the house, found the bullet hole from the reported gunshot, but haven't found the burglars. They are now searching every house in the vicinity.

After 6 hours of blocking off the streets, about 10 blocks, they said that they found the hole from the bullet that was reported. No gunman, no drug bust, no homicide, just a call about a gunshot. I really don't understand why they needed to bring the whole armada out to investigate. I guess that means there is something they weren't saying. At one point a cop told me that someone had already died! Don't know what happened to that story.

Did anyone see the news story? I saw someone giving a briefing to the camera, but didn't hear the whole thing.
