OT: Does anyone share my disdane for the city of Seattle?
I believe this topic should be ok. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that shared my utter hatred for that city and the teams that play in it. I've hated them for a long time and it boiled over when the "Fatbulous Sports Babe" was on the radio. She used to tell everyone to slash the tires of cars with Oregon license plates if they were parked at a Seattle sporting event involving an Oregon team, especially the Blazers. For all of you that like the Seahawks and Mariners because they are close I feel bad for you. I would also like to sell you something because obviously you can be persuaded easily.
So if you share my hatred for Seattle sports teams please chime in and say hi. I'm always happy to tear apart anything up there as they look upon us as their step child, or the little city that couldn't.

I've been away for awhile tlong. Aren't you the one with the rich Aunt? If so maybe she'll buy you a house up there.
For all the new people that was a reference to something tlong said along time ago regarding his......um......manhood.

Re: OT: Does anyone share my disdane for the city of Seattle?
Go ahead and give me your sales pitch, because I like the Seattle sports teams. They are the closest professioal teams and get the most local coverage, so I know more about the Seattle teams v. other teams . . . so I tend to root for them.
I think it is natural to like a local team. So if Portland doesn't have a football team, I think it is a natural reaction to look for the next closest team to root for. I will always root for Ptd over Seattle, but if Seattle is playing someone else, I root for them.
Go Northwest?
Exception: Washington Football team. Always want them to lose.

You don't even know me, and now I find out that you dislike me? Frankly, I only give a rip about the Sonics.
And although I live in Seattle, I have plenty of reasons to dislike Seattle. Next year, I am moving north to Snohomish County.

I don't have the feeling that Seattle looks down on Portland at all. Quite the opposite. i have the sense that Portland is considered something of a sibling city, along with Vancouver and Victoria. Considering that half the country has barely ever heard of Portland much has any opinion about it, that's not bad.

Re: OT: Does anyone share my disdane for the city of Seattle?
Who cares what Seattle thinks? Seattle is a pit. I have spent alot of time in both cities and there is no comparison. Portland is paradise compared to that rusty hole. Yeah they have the 'Hawks, Mariners and Sonics, but Portland is a far more beautiful city and the women are much better looking.

Why are you letting what the Fabulous Sports Babe has to say get to you?......
She was horrible, thats why she was canned....
She was more obnoxious than the Farrell guy who use to have his own show and that should tell you something...

I believe some would consider the moment the flabulous sports blob, she's flabulous! (btw, am I the only one who when reading that, actually read it to the music that was the theme to her show? er...anyway..the moment when KFXX went in the ****ter. Not only did they feel the need to shove seattle sports down our throats, but now they shoved some annoying fat *** cow down our throats who was based out of seattle and 90% of her gimmick (and a lame one at that) was making fun of Portland.
It screamed of someone coming in from out of state and not knowing that we aren't a Seattle subburb..
too all those who say that it's because Seattle is the closest we have to football and baseball..do you honestly (HONESTLY) think that if Portland got an NHL team, Seattle fans would embrace it? Or accept it being crammed down their throats?

Re: OT: Does anyone share my disdane for the city of Seattle?
My random thoughts about Seattle and Seattle sports teams:
1) I have a lot of friends who live in and around Seattle
2) My fiancee used to live in Seattle (but then wised up and moved to Portland)
3) While Portland is a big city that embraces its small-town roots, Seattle is a big city that thinks it's the Manhattan of the west coast
4) I'm jealous of their bar scene now, since they banned smoking in all restaurants and bars up there
5) Their sports teams are the ultimate tease - always the bridesmaids, never the brides.
6) For their three professional sports teams, the amount of playoff games they've been in would be about half of the amount of playoff games our one professional sports team has been in.
7) I hate Seattle sports, because they are shoved down my throat due to geographic proximity. I refuse to feed into it, and I have no relationship with Seattle or the state of Washington. The Hawks, Sonics and Mariners could all disappear tomorrow and I wouldn't blink.
8) Fox Sports Grill rocks
9) Wild Waves in Tacoma sucks ***
10) For such a big city, where are all the attractive women? Especially for being sandwiched between two cities with gorgeous women (Portland and Vancouver, B.C.*)
11) Safeco Field is a great place to watch a baseball game, but Qwest Field is an amazingly mediocre place to watch a football game.
12) Pike Place or Pike Street Market or whatever the hell you call it is horribly overrated. And can we stop having the video of the fish-throwing shoved down our throats whenever there is a national broadcast from Seattle? It's a tiny part of that market, and it's not even that cool.
That's all I've got.
-Pop
* - For the guys who haven't been to Vancouver, B.C., go there in the dog days of summer (August). The weather is beautiful, and the amount of beautiful women will floor you. Hit up the bars on Granville Street. It's a great time.

Re: OT: Does anyone share my disdane for the city of Seattle?
When it comes to basketball almost all of my limited supply of hatred is reserved for the Lakers. There's nothing going on in Seattle to make me hate it. If it makes you feel any better I hate the Mariners. But that's because I hate baseball in general.
