You may think it's a nasty habit, but what about those who like to smoke? Should you really be imposing your standards on them? What about personal freedom, freedom of choice, individuality, etc.? As a liberal, you should be standing up for those principles instead of trying to squash them.

Why not designate some bars "smoking" and some "non-smoking"? That way the smokers would still have someplace to go and have a drink and a smoke, and the non-smokers could frequent the other kind of bars. Everybody wins--and freedom and choice are preserved.
