Kerry belittles U.S. troops

What a disgrace this guy is. Doesn't he know that many of our brave troops are very well-educated and chose to fight for their country? This is just another idiotic statement from the same doofus who kept changing his mind and his positions during the 2004 election.

Re: Kerry belittles U.S. troops

I doubt anyone here is going to defend Kerry. He was a joke and Bought and Paid just like Bush. Although its probably better to be Bought and paid for by the University of California $627,225 and Harvard University $360,059 than Enron and Exxon and the war machine. In my opinion at least.

Just because I hate George Bush, and think he is a ridiculously transparent puppet figurehead for the large Oil/War conglomerate, that doesn't mean I support Democrats with no actual platform.

Re: Kerry belittles U.S. troops

Kerry's aide has just been quoted as saying that Kerry botched the delivery of the speech.

That lessens the impact of the "insult" significantly, if this quote from the prepared remarks is correct:

Quote:
A Kerry aide told CNN that the prepared statement, which had been designed to criticize President Bush, "was mangled in delivery."

Kerry was supposed to say, "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
So he was planning to insult Bush, everybody's favorite whipping boy, not the soldiers.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/...ain/index.html

As an amusing side note, Bush got similar grades at Yale as Kerry. It is so easy to call someone stupid. This information was hidden by Kerry during his campaign.

Ha! What a tool. He's already backpedaling.

If he really botched the speech, why didn't he correct himself immediately--on the spot? The fact is, he was speaking to "his people" and he felt comfortable slamming our troops in Iraq. And now he's covering his *** by sending out the aide to explain it all away.

Except for the fact that Kerry, himself, was highly educated and "got stuck" in overseas action. So he obviously didn't mean that troops are all poorly-educated people who had no other options.

Your desperation to illustrate Democrats as troop-haters and America-haters leads you to take positions that are so easily shot down.

why is it relevant that he served in the military? is he there right now? was he in the military recently? i feel like enough time has passed where it certainly is not obvious that just because he previously was in overseas action he doesn't feel like now the troops are all poorly educated.

though i'm also not sure why kerry is even relevant right now anyway to start a thread about no matter what his statement about the troops was.

At least no relevance to a simple-minded, 23 yr old know-it-all. You made too big of a statement above. Temper it a bit and earn respect from all.

well, I guess it could be construed as an insult to the troops, but considering he was a vet, I really doubt thats actually his intent..but again, if thats what it takes to put up with the fubar bush has gotten us into, go ahead..try to distract people from it by grasp at straws.

but whatever. Thats your M.O.

The military has long been considered a refuge for people with few options, that's not a new concept. I don't think Kerry, someone who served overseas in a terrible conflict despite having plenty of education and opportunities, is someone who would buy into and propogate that idea.

Not sure how being 23 should come into play. I dont claim to know it all, and if you ask many posters, after a long debate I tend to meet people in the middle if I've learned I was incorrect or uninformed on the matter.

Someone needs to be the smartass anyways, right?
