going to vote?
seems to me there's even more incentive to vote in this election than in most presidential elections.
• fewer people vote, so your vote has actually a lot more weight. because of this, your vote in a midterm actually has more impact on our government than it would in a presidential year.
• how are you liking one party rule? the executive, legislative and judicial branches are all dominated by a single party. this is your chance to make a dent in that.
• some interesting ballot measures in many states. in Idaho, I got to vote on a wacky imminent domain measure similar to Oregon's, a 10 commandment statue in a city park, homophobia, and raising the state sales tax to pay for a property tax cut. we're not quite Oregon yet, but our ballot measures have definitely gotten more interesting in recent years.
so get out and vote.*
*if you're a Democrat.
