Who Else Has to ******* Work Today
Have to work when many have the day off because of Veterans Day. Streets and businesses are quite. I didn't care yesterday that I had to work today, but for whatever reason, it isn't sitting right with me now.
Sucks . . . I want to play.

Re: Who Else Has to ******* Work Today
I have to work today, tomorrow, and maybe some on Sunday.
But that's only because I'm heading to Hawaii for 3 weeks Monday morning.

OK now that you have pushed that dagger into my heart, go ahead and twist. Hawaii . . . three weeks. What a great combination of words. My favorite vacation spot . . . and great time of year to go while it is wet and cold here . . . OK I got stop thinking about that . . . . . . . enjoy and have a pina colada for the board.

Re: Who Else Has to ******* Work Today
Working today and most of the weekend...the grant program I work for is ending on the 17th. The time I don't spend working I'll be applying for jobs, coaching or watching the Ducks and Beavers
Then off to Mexico next week for a short stint...

Re: Who Else Has to ******* Work Today
Working today.
The v.e.t. is open as well because Rosalind is going there this afternoon. Which means she won't speak to me all evening.
All you jerks raving about vacation!
I may have an involuntary one and I sure as hell won't be in Hawaii. The project I am working on will be finished end of the year and unless I can wangle a transfer (trying hard, this is the best place I have worked in at least 15 years) I'm gone.

Working (although I get school off).
Sigh, call centers never sleep. I'm even working on Christmas.

Sorry to hear it, crandc.
Just curious, but have you ever tried your baking skills out professionally? I know from past experience that you produce some killer goodies.

E, there are a couple of reasons why The Cake Lady cannot be more than a secondary source of income:
1. I don't have a licensed kitchen, which means I can sell to private parties but not to stores/restaurants. Because there is no way to keep the cats from walking through my home kitchen it cannot by definition be licensed. Renting and equipping space is pretty expensive, I'd need to get a business loan, which would not be easy in a very competitive field for a person with no "professional" training (although I've been baking for a long time)
2. My hands are bad, this limits me physically. Baking is not the problem; decorating is. Rolling pie dough can also be tough on bad days.
So it's a minor source of income and my friends like it. Something to bring to the Bash.
I did get referred to another department for a perm position where I am now working, they interviewed me (and 2 others) and are currently conducting background checks, so keep your fingers crossed. This is the only place I know of where benefits include veterinary insurance. Not to mention such perks as a $4 per day rebate if we take BART, 10% off on personal cell phones, a free 30th anniversary concert featuring, live, Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, Bob Dylan, and the Eagles, free afternoons at baseball games (Giants, unfortunately, but if someone wants to pay me to go to a Giants game I can live with it).
