Yeah, it's probably a little bit of paranoia on my part, but I feel what I feel. With the exception of NBA officiating, I am a pretty level-headed guy with no history of bouts with paranoia. I am concerned about it. And I am choosing to discuss it here so there is some kind of trail should something happen to me.

Sorry PBF, but this sounds very paranoid. It doesn't make any sense, and this just isn't how normal human beings operate.
You may be upset, but I suggest you give your wife (and her friends) the benefit of the doubt that they're not crazy, scheming super villains.
Watch yourself.
If you start making accusations like this, it could really hurt your credibility through this process.
Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to a counselor to help you deal with some of this stress...

I agree it sounds paranoid. I'm not making any bones about that. And no, it's not how normal human beings operate. But nothing about this situation is what I would call "normal".
If you knew what I know, and heard her say some of the things I've heard her say, you'd very likely agree that I have valid reasons for suspecting what I suspect. Others (none here) do know what I know, and have heard what I've heard, and share the same concern.
I know it's hard to imagine what I suspect to be true under "normal" circumstances from the information I've given here. All I can say is that I'm not posting *everything* here.

Re: Divorce
Also, I am not making accusations here. Just stating my suspicions. I certainly hope my suspicions are off the mark. I haven't voiced these suspicions to my lawyer, either. And I'm actually not dwelling on my suspicions much at all. I have more immediate (and real) concerns to deal with at the moment (like apartments, finances, custody, my sons' Tae-Kwon-Do lessons and baseball practices). Discussing my suspicions here is quite literally the most time / effort I've put into them to this point.

Re: Divorce
There is no substitute for intuition and meeting and observing people, so for someone here to tell PBF he's being paranoid is pretty weak. Bad people put off bad vibes. You should always trust your instincts and feelings about people.
The scenario PBF describes happens all to frequently, and maybe it's his turn to be set upon by bad people. I have stumbled into wilder escapades than that more than once.
If it were me, I would immediately (tomorrow) remove her as my beneficiary and leave everything to my kids, with my parents designated as trustees of the money until they were adults.
As far as filing goes, since her lawyer (who's fee PBF is ultimately paying for since his wife doesn't work) wants $900 to file, I suggest you refuse to file. She will find the $900 somewhere else, maybe her new "friends" will contribute (I somehow doubt it), and it is that much money you will save in the end. If she can't afford her high-priced lawyer, it will only get this over with cheaper and quicker.
Also, it matters very much in the eyes and heart of a judge who is the one who worked to save the marriage and who just wanted to take the money and run. Who actually files is a small part, but a part nonetheless.
There is no "high road" left to take here, other than in your behaviour around your kids, which I assume is fine. Either you let your attorney aggressively defend you, your relationship with your children, and your finances which your children rely on, or you will be left with no finances and no relationship with your children.
You should inform your attorney of your suspicions. He has the resources to confirm or deny them.

AWESOME. At least 7 different 1+ hour play sessions on the beach itself (literally 75 feet from the front door), a couple of evening camp-fires with roasted marshmallow s'mores, a trip up to the Cape Meare's lighthouse for whale-watching and the Octopus Tree, ice-cream at the Tillamook cheese factory, a drive on the beach (my first time ever, strange since the coast was almost a 2nd home for me from the age of 6 all the way through high-school) at Cape Kiwanda and climbing around on the low-tide rocks and Big Dune there as well, and lots and lots of games and even a little homework (my sons', not mine). The ONLY thing that sucked about it was that it had to end. Well, and also that the Internet access down there was 56K dial-up on a crappy Pentium III PC with a whopping 256MB of RAM (yawn).
Thanks for asking, MARIS.

Sounds like a perfect weekend.
56k???
I'd kill for 56k!
I've got a Pentium 111 with 28.8k dial-up.
That's about to change though.
They're laying cable on my street as we speak.

Re: Divorce
Alright, obviously you know the situation better than I do...
I just hope you're wrong about it and there's nothing sinister going on.
Keep your head up.
Cheers

I was off tuesday, so I went to the beach (actually, from about 15 miles north of Tillamook and then down to Newport and south about another 15). I had never been in the cheese factory, outside of just going inside the front door on a college field trip, so I can't say I was too impressed with the "tour".
btw, unrelated note...does anyone know where Camp Kuwannalong (or kuwannalog?) is? I went to it as a cub sprout two years in a row, and I always enjoyed the rustic cabins. And it was the first (and basically only) place I fished. God those were ugly brown fish.

Feeling especially low today. Want to cry literally every other second. Hard to work when tears get in the way of reading.
