Which leads directly to the inability to put your hand over your heart during, say... an anthem.

Thanks very much for answering EdO's question for me, Barfo, now i don't have to think up a serious answer, your answer probably has as much truth in it as mine would have, and i don't intend that to demean the opinion of either you or me.

wow, you are one of the people on the lapel bandwagon huh? amazing.
patirotism is not defined by what you wear on your coat. i don't like obama, but how about we focus on policy instead of non-issues like this crap? your thinking is about par with that of a FOX-News broadcast.

Re: Obama disrespects national anthem
You're really ready to condemn someone for not putting their hand over their heart? I'm an athlete and don't do it. I put my hand behind me. Seriously man, there are more important things about a candidate than how they go about the national anthem.

Any actions taken in the self-interest of a nation has the tendency to lead to war. No country in the history of the planet has based itself on the things barfo listed.
If they did? Their neighbors would eventually beat them up and take their lunch money until they could no longer afford to lounge about. And that would lead to war.
Nations, like individuals, act in their own self-interest. Fortunately war is often too high of a price to pay, but war is a natural part of the cycle of relations between states and it's silly to pretend like it's not, IMO.

Re: Obama disrespects national anthem
Ed O, thank you for your interest in my posts. I think probably that our worldviews are so divergent that further discussion would not be fruitful. My original post was only posted in the hope it might stimulate some thought, not discussion. If anyone is interested in further thinking in this area, I would recommend books by J Krishnamurti, if you can find them. One of the basic premises of his thinking is that each of us is responsible for the conflict in the world.

It's reality.
Or have you been reading history books that indicate otherwise?

So we should think but not discuss?
Um. OK.

Meanwhile, Bush apparently thinks the heart is behind the belly button.
(Laura Bush, having been a librarian, could probably tell the owners of this web site they can't spell.)
