CNN: Clinton staff planted several questions
Quote:
GRINNELL, Iowa (CNN) -- The college student who was told what question to ask at one of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign events says "voters have the right to know what happened" and she wasn't the only one who was planted.
. . . In an exclusive on-camera interview with CNN, Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff, a 19-year-old sophomore at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, said that giving anyone specific questions to ask is "dishonest," and the whole incident has given her a negative outlook on politics.
. . . Gallo-Chasanoff's story comes at a time when a second person has also come forward with a similar one. Geoffrey Mitchell of Hamilton, Illinois, a town located on the Iowa border, told CNN the Clinton campaign also wanted him to ask a certain question at an Iowa event in April.
"He asked me if I would ask Sen. Clinton about ways she was going to confront the president on the war in Iraq, specifically war funding," said Geoffrey Mitchell, a supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois. "I told him it was not a question I felt comfortable with."

Thank God we can count on Hillary Clinton to be more ethical than Bush. Heh, heh.

Re: CNN: Clinton staff planted several questions
So, Hillary had something she wanted to say and asked someone to bring up the subject.
Common practice by all political campaigners.

Then why is she apologizing for it?

Because she's a wuss. Did Bush apologize for planting a gay porn star in white house press meetings (a bit more prestigious than college students) to ask him and his press secretaries loaded questions?
The sad fact is this is seems to be a common practice among most politicians. Since the press got a hold of it, and she's running for office, she apologized instead of pointing out that everyone does it.

So it's "sad" that politicians do this, but Hillary should be allowed because "everyone does it"? I thought her platform was all about about higher ethical standards and more integrity in the White House, etc., etc.

Come on now, you go on and on about Rudy and how it doesn't matter than he's a values disaster even though that's he's running on a platform of "values" and yet you say something like this. Everytime you open your mouth, TH, you make hypocritical statements. It's sad.

Re: CNN: Clinton staff planted several questions
This is a non-event. Why does it matter if someone asks the question legitimately or if it's planted? The answer--not the question--is what's important.
Hypocrisy is a constant in life, and in big politics it's even more accentuated.
Her camp apologized because it costs them nothing and there's no reason for them to take some sort of moral stand.

Excuse me? I have never "gone on and on about Rudy." I'm not even sure I would vote for him. You must be thinking of someone else.

Based on your statement above, I can only conclude that you are confused and need to lie down for awhile.

Really? So if a candidate attended a town hall meeting somewhere in Iowa, it wouldn't bother you if none of the citizens who showed up were allowed to ask their own questions?
The democratic process shouldn't be reduced to a TV show where everything is staged to make the candidate look good. It should be a chance for citizens to ask the questions that concern them and to get a spontaneous, off-the-cuff answer--for better or for worse. If the candidate is allowed to talk only about the things that he or she wants to talk about, that's not democracy; it's a shabby imitation of it.
Not only that--the citizens who ask the sham questions are pretending to be asking them on their own, and the candidate is pretending to answer them on the fly. It's a deception on two levels, and a perversion of the political process.
