The only thing I find true about that is his stance on Iraq. He will not pull the troops out. He was one of the harshest critics of President Bush's strategy in Iraq and wanted the "surge" long before the President. The surge worked. Most conservatives hate McCain because he is too independent and a moderate. Him being an independent and a moderate are a good thing IMO.

The GOP is a mess in this state, and has been for quite some time. Oregon still has about 100,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans, and the majority of the unaffiliated voters in this state tend to lean to the left. I expect whoever the Democrat candidate is for president to carry this state by around a 10 point margin.

However, there is a Poly. His conclusion was that Obama was present for some things, but rarely ever took a side (I don't know the political term for this, again...not any type of expert myself), but for a very large part of it he wasn't even present.
Take it as you will. Second-hand information. It steered my friend away from voting for him (he had been considering it), as he didn't want to vote for someone who couldn't take a stance on something, or at least be politically involved prior to candidacy.

here's a great analysis of Obama and Hillary's achievements in the Senate during 2007. it certainly was a surprise to me:

Re: Oregon Counts!
Is there anyway to figure out if I'm registered as a Democrat or Independent? I forget which I chose, and seeing as it might actually matter now, it'd be nice to be able to vote in the Democrat's primary.

Re: Oregon Counts!
Try your county registrar of voters. Or the Democratic Party. If Oregon has an open primary (I have no idea if they do) it doesn't matter, you can vote anyway.

And if after futher review, you still decide to keep the thread moved . . . well that that is just a bad mother****ing **** call. And you may not be able to see it, but I just threw the ball against the backbaord support and then heaved into the crowd.

Re: Oregon Counts!
I favor Obama simply because I’m a literalist. The big issue is the war. Obama didn’t just give one speech against it he gave several and predicted in true detail the problems we would have. Hillary didn’t even read the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq. You have to vote based on what candidates do. Bush displayed slovenly leadership skills before he was president so we should not be surprised that he ignored 52 warnings of an impending terrorism attack. McCain was a relatively solid public servant. His recent courtship of the rightwing, along with his stake that he needs to convince the population that the Iraq war is going well disqualifies him.
After reading Mooks article I feel some confirmation in my instincts.
It remindes me of the time before the candidate field was narrowed when my favorite candidate was Bill Richardson. I completed a political survey that allowed you to pick a candidate based on anonymous beliefs, and quotes. In that survey I picked Richardson. I was surprised because I preferred Richardson accomplishments more so than his beliefs.

Made me laugh even at 6:45 AM on a Saturday. I hate when I can't manage to sleep in on the weekends.

Re: Oregon Counts!
I think we're a country to short attention span people. Because the media isn't harping about the war anymore, people forget about it. They're now saying that the economy is the "true" big ticket issue.
Well, people always think that tax cuts are the answer (after all, look how brilliantly the Bush cuts have boosted the economy) and who's the one who promises to make the "Bush cuts" permanent?
Thats right, Frank Stallone.

Re: Oregon Counts!
My preference is Mike Gravel, and he'll get my vote unless Obama convinces me he's a definite change for the better.
Hillary has never been anything like Bill (who I wish I could vote for again) politically, intellectually, or emotionally. She's dangerous in that she impulsively has to prove she's "tough", whether she's right or wrong. Now she has stooped to deceit and character attacks. She turns my stomach and scares the bejeezes out of me. She won't end the war she voted for and she has no workable ideas to turn around the depression or provide AFFORDABLE healthcare for the average American/family.
McCain, a blithering idiot and an extremely bitter 71 years old, sees nuking Iran as a stepping stone to his goal of leading WWlll against China and Southeast Asia as payback for how he suffered in the Vietnam. He will most certainly be the last American President if elected.
