If anyone is seriously interested:

Global warming is GLOBAL. It does not preclude local cold snaps.
Global warming theory actually predicts, paradoxically, certain areas of the world getting colder while the planet as a whole warms. For example, the Gulf Stream warms Western Europe; compare the latitude of warm countries like Italy with the comparable latitudes in North America, Rome and Philadelphia are about on the same latitude but Rome much warmer due to the Gulf Stream. As the planet warms the Gulf Stream is weakening, so along with droughts in summer Western Europe can look forward to colder winters, with all the consequences for agriculture.
