Re: High School Graduation Rate is 50% in Major US Cities
Just my opinion but graduation rates probably have little to do with budget spent on students and have mostly to do with the social and nurturing environments children grow up in. As an example I grew up in Lake O. It has a graduation rate of 97.7% or so. Most parents are college educated and college isn't just an option but the expectation for students there. My cousin who is 3 years younger than I grew up in Cresent City California, knowing a bit about the community it is low income very blue collar. The High School has an operating Day care center for students to leave their children at, and the graduation rate is 63%. My cousin did not graduate though she had her 1st baby at the age of 15 and her 2nd at 17. The social dynamic is very interesting in those communities, parents seem to take a lot less interest in their children lives.
