Couple of Questinos about my profile
Hey I got a few questions about my profile...
1) How do I get it to stomp emailing me notices when someones posts in a thread I posted in. I've looked around but cant find it.
2) What is reputation? I saw that on my thingy and was wondering what that is?
3) Lastly what is this banking I see on the right side of the screen?
Thanks guys/girls

Go to User CP, then Edit Options, and in the Messaging and Notification section, the second item is Default Thread Subscription mode. Set that to "do not subscribe" or "no email notification"

Reputation is something others give you, and you can give others, kind of like an STD. [That's why you see it on your thingy, I guess] To give others rep points, click on the little white scales (cauliflower?) icon below their avatar. The number of points given is somehow proportional to the number of points you have, I think.

Thanks a lot...
Is the reputation just sort of a way of like complimenting or saying thanks for the good post?

Yes, that's the idea. And, I guess, the original idea must have been that one could see who the good posters are by how many rep points they have. However, there are 'rep threads' where posters artificially enhance each others rep, so the totals are fairly meaningless.

Re: Couple of Questinos about my profile
Why can't we take away rep points? Like, left click adds points, and right click subtracts them. Or we could have 2 kinds of points, rep points and dufus points. For anyone with an extreme net total of the two kinds of points, his posts would blink in pink. Also, why not require all readers to rate all posts they read? You could force this by not allowing the reader to escape the thread until he rates the posts. Put a cookie onto the reader's hard drive so that if he tries to crash out and then boot up, the cookie will remember where he was and keep him imprisoned in the thread.

I like the boards where you rep posts and threads, so there is a little meter on each thread and each post showing how valuable the mob considers such post. If your in a hurry you can scroll quickly through a thread just looking for high rated green posts, or skip long drawn out red posts that are somewhat waste of time. It gives ya feedback on your own posts as well.

I rep all the time.
We are the strongest team board, we all route for the Blazers, I say all Blazer posters rep each other and ballon our rep points v. other team's posters. It gets so antagonistic on this board that I think posters don't readily rep.
I know rep points don't really matter, just thought I would throw it out there.
I just repped you . . . pretty cool huh?

Man, I wish I could give you a dufus point right now. And what about a 3rd kind of point? Rep points, dufus points, and self-rep points. The last would be where you pat yourself on the back after a well-written post. This would be valuable to others to gauge your self-esteem. Useful for knowing how delicately to word responses to your posts.

That's a great idea! Of course, all those digits would take up a lot of screen real estate.
"I'm barfo, and I've repped myself 400 times for this post."
