Re: Good Lord she's delusional

One thing thats worth noting is that in 2003 depending on how the poll was phrased 60-70% of the country was in favor of the Iraq war however at the time only 15-40% of African Americans were in favor of it. Obama's African heritage certainly serves as a good pickup line for people of color. If he had the polticis of Allen Keyes he wouldnt really 'check out' well. Another thing thats worth mentioning is how Hillary basically put the black vote under her chin spun in circles and shot putted it away. She has Bill to blame for much of that.

Re: Good Lord she's delusional

Good point, if Obama was getting the "black vote" because he's black, Alan Keyes would be someone that Republicans would be touting out trying to get the black voters to vote for McCain.

Of course, Keyes is a complete nutbar, but thats besides the point.

Re: Good Lord she's delusional

All I know is that due to timing and circumstance, the Democratic Nominee should be in line for a slam dunk win. But by it being strung out s long as it has it sends 1 of 2 messages, Either both candidates are really strong candidates or both are weak. My gut feeling is the longer is draws out the weaker the 2 are perceived to be. So they look like they will be settling for a floater in the lane, not a sure breakaway slam.

I'm no expert just calling it like I see it. And while I get the not giving up till the end ting, the better thing for the party as a whole would be for her to step down. In my eyes the longer she holds on the more it appears to me that it's about Hillary, not the presidency.

well honestly when the other candidates dropped out, what else is the news supposed to be covering about mccain? they should be more focused on hillary and obama because they are still the ones competing for something. mccain has already won his party's nomination. obviously that doesn't mean he should just completely get a free pass now to do anything he wants but the media should be more focused on those two than him at this point.

We're talking about Democratic primaries here. Very few people are choosing between McCain or Obama at this stage.

Also I don't think that anyone is saying african americans are voting for Obama ONLY because of his color.

Re: Good Lord she's delusional

Clinton's problem is that she doesn't get any special treatment from women voters. I asked Crandc why women's groups haven't spoken up for her, and Crandc gave the Obama/McCain line that Clinton has said a few bad quotes in the campaign. Women's groups should realize that another chance at a woman President won't come along for a long time.

Clinton's chance may be about 33% now (not 1%) but that would change instantly if the media stopped telling everyone that it's all over, as they have for months. Media slant is influential, even to superdelegates. John Edwards was more liberal than either Obama or Clinton, but he kept losing primaries because the media kept barely mentioning him and saying it was between Obama and Clinton.

Clinton isn't my candidate. I simply see both sides. (Clinton has experience and political contacts/ debts collectible. Obama is younger and speaks more energetically.)

If it was phrased, "If the UN approves the war, do you favor going to war?" 55% approved. In every other circumstance asked by polls, the majority opposed the war. (Bush had already announced he was going solo anyway. Britain made him put it to a UN vote and the UN voted in opposition to the war. So the poll's criteria for war were never met. Therefore, there never was majority-of-America support for the war, even at the outset.)

Uh... you think that superdelegates are going to decide to overturn the pledged delegates or not based on what CNN or the Wall Stree Journal says?

Really?

That's ridiculous.

Of course not; they'd never vote for a black republican. But between a white and a black democrat, they'll vote for the black democrat every time. It's the same logic that many female democrats are using when they vote for Hillary Clinton: "Let's elect one of our own."
