Do you really think some artsy rock band who starts their concerts with the national anthem of the Soviet Union isn't somewhat enamored with the idea of socialism or communism? What do you think of the people who wear Che Gueverra t-shirts? Are they trying to tell the world they hate Che Gueverra?

What I think is that Obama is a radical at heart, and an extreme leftist who would love to tear down a lot of things in America. Look at the radical, anti-American sermons he's been listening to for the last 20 years. Look at the people he associates with, such as William Ayers, who bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol in the 1970s. Look at the fact that he doesn't like to wear an American flag pin, or salute the flag, or say the Pledge of Allegiance. Look at the fact that he has spent his entire political career in the radical leftist cauldron of Chicago.
I know you're not supposed to mention these things. You're supposed to listen to his speeches and nod your head and say, "Isn't he wonderful," but I can't do it. I'm looking at his whole life and his whole career, and the people he associates with, and the way he votes in the Senate, where he is ranked the most liberal person in Congress.

Those people are mostly trying to look cool.

Re: Obama rally was fueled by free rock concert
Here's an interesting comment posted on the orginal article:

The truth of the matter is that the Decemberists are huge in Portland, their home town. Sure, they play small halls in Scranton, but they have three popular albums out with Capitol Records, not some small indie label. They come here to Austin for our festivals and pull large crowds. If they came here and played Zilker Park for FREE, you couldn't get within 20 miles of the Park.

Re: Obama rally was fueled by free rock concert
Considering there was no promoting of the fact The Decemberists would be at the rally, I'm not sure how Talkhard believes even a handful of those 70,000 people showed up for a rock concert and just happened to stay around for the Obama rally.
I've seen a lot of ridiculous claims by Talkhard, fueled by his intense paranoia and hatred for anything and anyone who doesn't believe in the same things he does, but this post is absolutely ridiculous.
Thanks for the laugh on a Wednesday morning.
Let me know when Obama takes a dump and wipes his *** with the American flag. I'm sure you'll be all over that one.
I've also heard rumors that Obama is thinking about growing a narrow mustache and persecuting Jews, and that he's considering a level of diplomacy with Satan himself.
That's right all you DIM-ocrats (get it, because you're dim, like not bright?). Be afraid. You NEED to vote for John McCain because Barack HUSSEIN (see, look at his TERRORIST middle name, the piece of ****) Obama will come into your house, likely rape your wife, urinate on your bible, kiss the Koran and steal your kid's fruit snacks. We don't really have a good reason why McCain will make your life and your country better, but BE AFRAID OF OBAMA! HE'S THE MONSTER UNDER YOUR BED! HE'S THE ONE WHO HAUNTS YOUR NIGHTMARES!
BOO!

Re: Obama rally was fueled by free rock concert
I encountered the crowds downtown trying to go into the office. I didn't see many people I thought might be going to a rock concert. I saw a lot of family types with Obama shirts on, not people looking like they were going to a rock concert. Besides, I would rather pay the going rate for the main event A DECEMBERISTS CONCERT!!! than to stand in line for hours to mainly watch the undercard (some random dude talking about change).

And yet Talkhard fails to give a reason why there were 50,000 people in the same state at a John Kerry rally

I'm sure you're right. There's nothing at all to be nervous about when it comes to Obama. All this "concern" over him is just silly and prejudiced. He's an inspirational leader and a visionary who is the only hope for this country.
Bush, on the other hand, is the devil incarnate. No, wait, he's Hitler!! No, wait, he's a moron who can't string a single sentence together. He's destroying our civil rights, tearing up the constitution, and invading other countries at whim. He's in the pocket of the oil companies, he has ruined our reputation abroad, created a host of new enemies, and made us less safe than before 9/11. Oh, yeah, and he's ruining our economy!!! Plus, he's a drunk! Plus, he's rich!! Plus, he's just a puppet who is being manipulated by Dick Cheney. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Thank God there's been no "hysteria" over President Bush by the Left.

The difference, of course, is there are mountains of evidence of idiotic moves by Bush that have cost this country dearly, either in Americans' lives, hard dollars, or in foreign relations, or in the global economy and innovation race, or in education, or in health care, or in reliance on foreign oil, or in handling domestic natural disasters, or in national security, etc. That cannot be argued. Most people (not just "the left" by the way - his approval rating in the mid 20's signifies that) think Bush is a terrible president because he's done very little to advance this nation in the last 8 years and done quite a lot to alienate our allies and muck up even the most basic services the federal government should provide.
The difference is that people like you and the rest of the lot who have somehow forgotten what the democratic process is about feel compelled to play on Americans' fears in this election process based on second-hand information and guilt-by-association. You're asking people to "not vote" for a certain candidate because you don't like who he has associated himself with, even if it doesn't at all signify what his hopes and beliefs are. It's an overly simplistic approach to an important process. For once, I'd like to hear Republicans talk about what they would actually do to advance this country rather than trying to scare people into thinking that having a sit-down meeting with Raul Castro is somehow going to drive us into nuclear holocaust.
Yes - I happen to be a Democrat - but I'm voting for Obama because I actually think he has ideas that would improve our standing as a nation in many ways and improve the lives of Americans (including myself). As for McCain, he hasn't proven to me that he'll do much different than what the last 8 years have given us. Other than his acceptance that our climate and planet are in crisis and that he'll take baby steps to correct it. Good for him, but it's not close to enough, and the Democrats will do a better job on those environmental issues anyway, as they always have.
