You know, the way some folks change names, it really does get tricky for me to keep track sometimes. Granted my brain is probably starting to mold from age and neglect, but at least I'm here nearly everyday. For the more occasional posters I'd have to think it's even trickier.

With that, I'm also curious why it happens so much. Hap shortened his awhile back (and I've actually been thinking about doing that) and I can see changing it if you've named yourself after a traded player or some such, or perhaps going with something closer to one's real name (such as Trader Ed) but I'd love to hear from those who find other reasons for changing names, just to better understand it.

Wouldn't something like "Speedy the Cannibal" be more appropriate?

I'm terrible at thinking of good names. I always end up picking my initials, which I dislike. I'm just not creative enough to think of one, so I just use the stupid initials and then get annoyed with it. I look at everyones names and like them all, Even if they are just simple ones, but then I look at mine and it just annoys me.

I started out as Thylo, shortened from thylacine, of which I was very interested.


Then one summer I was board and posting was slow, the team sucked and little was going on. So I decided to offer up my name to the forum to select a new name for me. We took a ton of suggestions and then ran a poll and Nate McVillian was the winner, and so my name was changed to Nate McVillian for one year (the term I promised to keep the voted upon nickname). Poll for my name The final choices were He'sADickau, Eddie Griffin's Off Hand, NateMcVillain, JasonJenningsRocks, IsiahRiderFan793281 and TacoFlavoredKisses

When the year was up, I wanted to change my name to something Blazer related, and with Greg Oden coming in, I settled on GOD, standing for either Greg On Defense or Greg Oden Domination, I can't remember which. And here I am, with GOD as my handle.

I've always thought of ZachAddy as Speed, so I'm glad he's changed to KingSpeed.

I'm curious about a couple other posters tho. mook used to be at least one other name, but what was it? And Talkhard, didn't you have another name before you were Talkhard?

Speed and kingspeed have such a bad reputation...you should come up with a new name. Like Voltron or something.

I changed it because I got sick of seeing Hap Shaughnessy, because it's such a long *** name. Plus, it's a simple three letter name (much like my real name, Dan).

And I wanted a name that could be said in public that wasn't so gawd-awfully embarrassing. Not sure if that is true anymore though. I've contemplated changing it to Dan, but I don't know if it's available.

Yours I remember, because, like Speed, I still think of you by your former name. But somehow mook became mook, and the Wanker was erased from my pea brain.
