Lecturers are generally instructors without the required research load and a job outside of the University. I taught a few classes while intermittently working on my doctorate and working for an investment bank.

Technically, Sen. Obama was not a professor. That's an assignation saved for people with the proper academic and research credentials. That being said, he taught classes at the U of C, so it really comes down to semantics (professor vs. Professor). As an attorney, I would expect precision in any statement from him, however. For example, I can say that I taught at the U of C, I was a faculty member at the U of C, I was a Lecturer at the U of C, but I cannot say that I was a professor at the U of C. In the *****y, cutthroat world of academia, believe it or not, stuff like that matters.

I hope that clears things up.

Remember when you called Obama out for having no proof of him being a Prof? Do you also remember the time you wrote on an internet forum and talked yourself up for teaching classes at U of C, not to mention having some published papers? If you dont see whats wrong that that, deleted.

I guess it will easy for you find a link for a confirmation. None of these "served as" or "regarded as" wording.

His formal title was "senior lecturer," but the University of Chicago Law School says he "served as a professor" and was "regarded as" a professor.

It seems to me that there's a bit of a difference in the need for documentation of purported resume experience between some guy posting about himself on an internet forum and a person who's running for president of the U.S.
