BAGHDAD - Iraq's prime minister said Monday his country wants some type of timetable for a withdrawal of American troops included in the deal the two countries are negotiating.

It was the first time that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has explicitly and publicly called for a withdrawal timetable — an idea opposed by President Bush

In other words, they would like to know when the troops are going to get out of Iraq.

if the iraqi government feels like things are going well enough that they want to discuss timetables for american troop withdrawals, wouldn't that be an indication that things are going well there?

Even if they wanted the troops to stay I would not care. I say its time to leave and let them run their own country. In fact I want the troops home from all 130 nations so they can protect our border here at home instead of subsidize the economies of other nations.
