Batman is Bush
Quote:
"There seems to me no question that the Batman film "The Dark Knight," currently breaking every box office record in history, is at some level a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war. Like W, Batman is vilified and despised for confronting terrorists in the only terms they understand. Like W, Batman sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past.
And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society -- in which people sometimes make the wrong choices -- and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell."

Re: Batman is Bush
That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard in my entire life. Batman is all about justice and standing up for the little guy. W is all about helping his rich friends get richer.

Yeah, that's the ticket! Bush doesn't care about protecting this country, fighting terrorism, or the place he will have in history. He doesn't care about our troops, or installing a democracy in the Middle East, or definding freedom. He cares about NONE of that. All he really has ever wanted to do was help his rich friends get richer. That's why he ran for president!!!

Re: Batman is Bush
Uhh, yeah, they were making the movie praising Bush, not just following the themes of the Batman story line that have been around for decades.
Right.

Re: Batman is Bush
This is just idiotic.
It reminds me of a few years back, there was a list of the top 100 conservative rock songs in history. I won't go into depth on all of them, but the #1 song was Won't Get Fooled Again, by the Who. Here's what author John J. Miller said...
--
The conservative movement is full of disillusioned revolutionaries; this could be their theme song, an oath that swears off naïve idealism once and for all.
“There’s nothing in the streets / Looks any different to me / And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye.... Meet the new boss / Same as the old boss.”
The instantly recognizable synthesizer intro, Pete Townshend’s ringing guitar, Keith Moon’s pounding drums, and Roger Daltrey’s wailing vocals make this one of the most explosive rock anthems ever recorded — the best number by a big band, and a classic for conservatives.
--
Unfortunately, the song is an allegory for the US involvement in the Viet Nam war. We tried to replace the 'evil' communist regime with our own and nothing changed. We were equally unjust in our actions and people died, leaving the speaking character to pray that no more revolutionaries come along to make things any worse. It's pretty much as liberal a message as you can get.
