Draft : Andris Biedrins

Andris Biedrins
7'0" (7'2" wingspan)
240 lbs
34 inch vert (Carmelo/Bosh have 33 inch verts)

His stock seems to be falling, Maybe he's having bad workouts?

Is this a player we hope drops to #13, or would he require trading up for?
In the updated Draftcity mock, they have him falling all the way to #11!

Quote:
Andris Biedrins definitely has the chance to be a star in the NBA, especially since the NBA lacks talented sevenfooters who want to work below the basket
Some scouts say he's the best back to the basket player in the draft. We had a big debate on Tiago Splitter, and imho Andris is by far the better prospect.

DraftCity's Word on the Street ...
Quote:
Another guy that has been taking a tumble lately is Latvian power forward Andris Biedrins. His workouts have also been largely unimpressive as documented in this recent article (link). He is getting by on his reputation right now (being considered a surefire lottery pick for most of the year will do that to you) but no one that’s seen him lately has really fallen in love with him. He hasn’t done any workouts for anyone since working out with Chicago, claiming an injury as the reason for that, even though he clearly did not get injured in that workout. He appears to be a lot rawer then everyone initially thought, and his agent probably thinks that teams have seen enough of that for now. His agent’s ties in the Bay Area along with their specific needs could be a good spot for him at 11 to Golden State (rumors of a guarantee already started), we tried to call Bill Duffy to figure out what the story is, but he might be still holding a grudge against us for not jumping on the Ivan Chiriaev bandwagon, as he never returns phone calls from us.

since that picture obviously he has added considerable mass and good muscle mass...i would be thrilled if he slipped to us but i see him falling no further than Seattle, another opportunity for them to spoil our fun

He's an interesting possibility. He looks like he might be a good complement to Zach at the 5 given he's got some shotblocking ability and allegedly plays solid defense.

I think our draft position looks better everyday. Early on, I thought we'd have to catch a couple of breaks to get our guy at 13, but now it seems we're in a nice little spot. With guys like Luke, Jefferson, and Snyder possibly moving into the top 12, something's got to give. Reports of JR Smith's demise may have been premature as well, as Chris Monter said today on 1080 that he might be gone before 13, but would likely give Portland a tough decision if still available. (For anyone who missed it, they interviewed Smith as well and he expects to be in the lottery and would love to go to Portland). I certainly wouldn't hesitate to take Harris over anyone else if available, but I'd like a little more info on Biedrins. It's starting to look like Jefferson may be moving ahead of him now that he measure out at 6'10" with long arms...
