Meru, atleast give the kid a chance to prove himself before you pass judgment. Its not fair to stereotype him with other NY prep stars, and assume he'll suck because he came from there.

There's way more positive reviews from scouts, than there is negative. If you watched a few videos on Bassy, you'd admit he has alot of potential. Whether he lives up to that potential is yet to be seen, but I'll be supporting/rooting for him along the way.

Meru tells me:
I THOUGHT you were suggesting that because he has a cousin who is a well-paid NBA point guard, that this meant something about his game. My point was that having successful relatives doesn't mean you will be successful, and conversely, you don't need to have 'em to BE successful. So, basically, they're irrelevant.
You contend that a HS point guard who plays or works out with a league leading NBA point guard on a regular basis has no advantage over any other hs player when drafted into the NBA?

That makes it sound like you think the HS game is on the same level as the pro game.

No but you think you can..right?

And then meru fanned the flames with:
For a third point, a whole bunch of scouts have come out and said Telfair will basically suck.
I must have missed that? Where did you see it? I'm thinking you made it up to justify your argument.

Telfair will not be close to Lebron in his first or second year, cause he's not on the worst team in the freaking EAST. Lebron was allowed to play his heart out this year cause his team sucked so bad it really didn't make a difference if he came up huge or not.

Telfair will be behind a vet. PG on a team that is used to going to the playoffs. The Cavs are happy to have 5 thousand fans in the stands on big game nights.

Had Telfair gone to the Magic or the Bulls or even the Cavs he'd be a starter. So it will take some time to see what he becomes.

Comparing him to Lebron, Melo or Wade makes no sense to me.

I think given time, Bassy could be the star point guard of the future

...for the Knicks. I bet adidas thinks that.

Telfair was in New York Thursday to watch the Knicks and his cousin, Stephon Marbury, play the Houston Rockets. But Telfair said he isn't considering jumping to the NBA next season.

"I will be at Louisville," Telfair said. "Is that a definite? If I'm alive."

Telfair said he has a long way to go before he's ready for the pros.

"I have so many things to learn," Telfair said. "I'm sure (coach) Rick Pitino can help me out. That's why I'm at Louisville."
Anybody else a little unnerved by this?

That was written in January.

Louisville was 10-1 and probably looked pretty good to a signed prospect. Too bad about the rest of the season.

Lopez was on alot of covers as a student..
I still have alot of basketball magazines that said he was the next
this and that.

I don't rememeber him having that impressive stats in school
as Telfair.
Lopez really sunk when he came to the NBA..
Telfair will shine..(I am hoping)
