Stoudamire, Barry, Miles, Randolph, and Ratliff would be a big improvement.
Even after next season, assuming Barry's still playing at a
high-enough level, the team could move him over to replace Stoudamire at the point. Maybe Woods or Monya, or heck, even Outlaw would be ready for the SG helm. Or, Telfair proves everyone wrong and competes well enough to man the PG spot.
The cool thing about this is then Portland doesn't have to focus on finding that star guard, and instead look at a frontcourt upgrade or future frontcourt star.
I wonder if ...
* Ainge would consider moving SAR for Jefferson.
* Paxson would move Chandler for SAR or Curry for Randolph.
* Mullin would like SAR for Biedrins and an expiring contract like Robinson?
* Carter would pipe down if a vet was brought in like SAR, who IMO is right now leaps and bounds better than Bosh.
* Washington would move Kwame Brown for Randolph
I'm not saying I'd make all of these moves. It's just fun thinking about all of the different options out there.
A future of ...
1) Jefferson, Randolph, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
2) Chandler, Randolph, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
3) Curry, SAR, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
4) Biedrins, Randolph, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
5) Randolph, Bosh, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
6) Brown, SAR, Miles (or Outlaw), Monya (or Woods), Telfair
All of these line ups show Portland has the options available to them to have a bright future. The cool thing is we still have assets in ...
* Monya or Woods to deal
*Outlaw, Khyrapa, or Miles to deal
* Expiring contracts of Ratliff, Davis, and Stoudamire
* Soon Anderson and Patterson's contract and talents will become attractive to a team
* Ha or Sinanovic are still out there
* Chico's still out there scouting for more rough gems
Anyway, to say I'm excited about Portland's future is an understatement.
