SAR Trade Idea(Yes, another one)

Blazers Trade
-Shareef Abdur-Rahim to Chicago
-Derek Anderson to Chicago
-Qyntell Woods to Miami
-Rights to Nedzad Sinovic to Chicago

Chicago Trades
-Tyson Chandler to Portland
-Eddie Robinson to Portland
-Antonio Davis to Miami

Miami Trades
-Eddie Jones to Portland

It needs some fine tuning, but it has got a decent foundation. We get a young, athletic PF/C to tutor behind Theo for a few years. We also get a great shooting SG in Eddie Jones. And, he can play D. Eddie Robinson could take over for Patterson if he is traded.

Anyone else like it?

I love it! That's probably the best S.A-R. trade that looked remotely possible. I would do that trade in a second.

Unfortunately it's still only remotely possible. If Chicago resigns Crawford they're pretty much set in the back court with him, Gordon and Heinrich. So sending them DA doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even if he doesn't they could probably get someone like Steven Jackson in free agency that they like more than Derek Anderson. But maybe they'd see something I don't

I also doubt that Miami would do a Jones for Davis and Woods trade. If they're going to trade Jones at all it'd probably be so they can clear some cap space for 2005. Davis' deal goes 'til 2006, which is only a season shorter than Jones' deal. But it could be they think Jones is taking up PT they'd rather Caron Butler or this kid they drafted take and they'd be happy to trade him for a veteran big man. If Davis can hold up a Davis / Grant / Odom front line would be pretty imposing in the south eastern division.

I love the idea for both the Blazers and the Heat, but I'm not sure about the Bulls. They dealt away Brand because they were afraid he was going to turn out like SAR (20/10 guy who never wins) and with the picking of Deng, SAR isn't really a need anymore.

Also, the trade works perfectly fine with Dale Davis instead of Derek Anderson.

If the Bulls demanded Dale instead of DA, i would still do this trade.

Did you run that through the trade checker? not sure it would work.

I had a similar idea in the "Would you..." thread

Even though he will be 33 later this year, his shooting and defensive skills are still pretty darn good.

when you think that he has a player option next year, he may opt out making it actually an ending contract this year. But at his age I think he will keep the good money he has already signed for.

Portland would get a legitimate guard with defensive skills and save about $1.2 or so mil, $2.4 mil with taxes on a 1 to 1 trade

Miami already has Odom at the PF spot, with Butler and Grant on the frontlines as well. We could take on EJ's contract but they would need to give us some incentive.

If we can involve a third team and move some of our other players it might be better

Portland sends Rahim $14.6 mil + Dickau $0.8 mil to Chicago = $15.4 mil
Portland sends Woods $1.2 mil + Stepania $1.1 mil to Miami = $2.3 mil
$17.7 mil OUT
Portland receives Eddie Jones $13.4 mil + Tyson Chandler $4.8 mil = $18.2 mil

Chicago receives Rahim + Dickau as a backup PG = $15.8 mil
Chicago sends Chandler $4.8 mil to Portland
Chicago sends Jerome Williams $5.6 mil + Eddie Robinson $6.7 mil = $12.3 mil to Miami
$17.1 mil OUT

Chicago gets Rahim and Dickau for Chandler, Jerome Williams and E Robb

Miami sends EJ to Portland $13.44 mil
Miami receives from Chicago Jerome Williams $5.6 mil + Eddie Robinson $6.7 mil = $12.3 mil
Miami recieves Stepania $1.2 mil
$13.4 mil IN

Roster
PG Stoudamire, Telfair
SG Jones, DA, Monia
SF Miles, Patterson, Khryapa
PF Randolph, Davis, Outlaw
C Ratliff, Chandler, Ha

seems fair to me

Thoughts?

Maybe....Dale has a trade kicker in his contract, but it might still work. I'm too lazy to check the numbers right now....maybe tomorrow.

An intriguing idea. Would Chicago do it? Perhaps. Losing Robinson and Davis might be incentive enough for them to give up Chandler. Perhaps not, but an intriguing idea nonetheless.

Maybe run it by the guys in the Chicago forum.
