Does that mean that Damon is going to move over to the shooting guard position? What would that mean for Telfair?

Wait...you don't believe everything you see in the O-Live forum?

Well, the rumor was that we were talking to Trenton Hassell and Fisher.

I really can't see us signing another point guard. Hassell would make a lot more sense than Fisher.

Unless Portland had a deal in the works to move Damon....

Hmmmm.....

Little specualtion.

Word is Mavs are looking to aquire Vince Carter, which would leave them with Carter, Daniels and Finley.

Just a thought but wouldn't Damon be a decent fit with Carter and Nowitski.

Yikes! That would be Nash's first bad move. He's an upgrade over Dickau, but not so much that he's worth the entire MLE, not even if it's just one year.

I'd be happier with the cheaper, yet less steady Dickau and Telfair combo.

Fisher is not appealing at all. If Telfair is truly ready to contribute within the next two years, I'd be more than happy with letting Damon run out his contract than sign Fisher. However, if Schilly's right about the possibility of moving Damon for someone of value, then I could see a Fisher signing... Hassell makes much more sense, though.

Even if the Blazers do offer him, I don't think he'd sign. I think there's a better chance of him re-signing with LA if Payton leaves, or Houston to play with T-Mac and Yao, he would be a verry good fit there IMO. I jus don't think he wants another possible back-up role(unless he'll win a championship).

I doubt that Fisher would want to come to Portland.

he should go to houston, where he'd actually be a good player for that team (they're sans a PG).

We don't need a streaky shooting PG, who flops on defense, and doesn't really play good defense to begin with.

I loathe Damon, and my initial instinct is that any PG other than him is at least a change of scenery.

however, Fisher at anything over the veteran's minimum in really overpaying. he's great at hitting wide open shots that Shaq and Kobe create for him, but unfortunately we don't have Shaq and Kobe.

at this stage Telfair is an inferior PG, but not by so much that he couldn't surpass Fisher in half a season at 20 mpg.

any veteran PG we sign ought to be an instant replacement for Damon's minutes, not a guy who turns Telfair into a third string PG. that's what Cooke is for.

Fisher would be a good fit on the Blazers as long as we got him for significantly less than the MLE. We need depth at PG and we don't got it with Cook or Telfair. Telfair won't be ready for a couple of years minimum and Cook just plain sucks.

And Cook was waived the day after the draft.

Put it this way - I'd pay give Fisher a 1-year deal worth 2-3 million dollars in a John Crotty role while Telfair develops. He's a much better fit for a team like Houston or Miami and he'll get a lot more than that somewhere else. He's just not worth that much to the Blazers. I'd much rather have Damon Jones, everything being equal...

Hassell on the other hand is of interest, but at the kind of money he's likely after (full MLE?), I'd gladly pass on him as well...

Why should we trade a large expiring contract for post-championship garbage?

(oops wrong thread)
