Rejuvinating NJ trade discussions...

With the rumors of an SAR for Kittles & AWilliams deal floating around for several weeks now, would it be more attractive if we could pry away a pick or two from NJ since it appears as though they will be acquiring a few from Denver in the Martin deal?

Trade SAR to NJ for...
Kittles: Slight upgrade over DA, as well as an expiring contract, so we don't lose too much cap flexibility next year.
AWilliams: Decent backup big man.
First Round pick, or two?: Either their pick, or one of the ones they get from Denver (Washington's pick?)

Although we would all like to believe we could pry away Ray Allen or Pierce away from their teams, that's most likely not going to happen. It seems that realistically, this may be about the best deal we can get. If we can persuade NJ to add a pick or two, it may be worth pulling the trigger. They may be a little more desparate to make a deal now that it looks like KMart will be moving on to Denver.

Your thoughts...

I think that deal is the best we can get for Shareef

If you can get the Washington draft pick, I would pull the trigger on the deal. Most likely a lottery pick.

In a vacuum, the deal would be palatable to me, but I've got the following issues ...

a) the "2" gets awfully crowded with Kittles and Anderson, assuming there isn't a plan to move DA afterwards. I think both are quality starters. I wonder how well they perform when one isn't though. Certain starters can't (or won't) resume their high-level playing ability as a reserve.

What makes the most sense, is bringing Kittles off the bench for now, as he wouldn't command so much respect as to supplant Anderson from the line up. If DA struggles again, then switch. I suppose this could work out well. Certainly an upgrade over last season.

b) no way does this type of deal get done until after the RMR. Nash would much prefer to see Woods's progress, and to a lesser degree Frahm's too. If Woods displays the same results as last season, but a smidgeon more control and confidence, then no way. Same goes for Frahm.

I don't care if Kittles is proven, has an expiring contract, and comes with a draft pick. If our young guys, who already come cheap and for longer, can help the club, you move Rahim for a big man.

I honestly don't think we have heard the name(s) we will get back in a trade. Nash has proved to be great at keeping a tight lip on trades.

Kittles isn't worth Rahim. To make this deal somewhat fair, NJ should throw in Nenad Kristic.

Not only does nj have the WAS pick now, but the also have the Clippers first pick from the deal, and now that kobe decided to go to the lakers, that Clippers pick would also be high enough to make me interested. I would prefer either of those picks to Kristic.
