There were not dumb if they couldn't get a guarantee from Shaq that he could resign. Renting Shaq for 1-2 years is dumb. I highly doubt that Shaq would have been happy to go to POR, or that he would ever agree to resign IN POR iof he were traded here. Therefore not making that trade on THAT basis is NOT a dumb move at all.

I think this trade was "dumb" for Play because not doing it means that SAR won't be able to showcase the fact he's the best PF by a mile and a half on the Blazers..

Whenever you have a chance to get a top 3 player, you HAVE TO go for it. And at a expense of Zach/Miles/Theo? Hell I will do it anyday of the week and twice on sunday.

1. Zach have not prove anything, he only have 1 good season on his resume and Reef is more or less equal to his production.
2. Miles have nothing special YET. And high fly SF is not hard to get.
3. Theo? Theo <<<<< O'neal. Enough say.

The main point is you all forget the star power of O'neal. He can attract FA.

This is already a playoff team, and with next yr's FA pool we can easily resign Reef for less than 10m and Damon for 5m. Add a stud SG next year like Ray and this is champ metal. Plus we have enough young player.
