Dickau No. 2 point guard
This was from today's Oregonian....

Dickau, meanwhile, is healthy entering a season for the first time. He has a chance to solidify himself as the team's No. 2 point guard behind Stoudamire, especially after gaining a decided advantage over Telfair in head-to-head matchups during this week's minicamp in Tualatin.

This is the first I've heard of either Telfair or Dickau dominating the other. From reading discussions here, I felt they were playing each other pretty even, but Jason Quick feels different I guess.
This is very interesting although, dickau getting eventual backup minutes seems less popular

The more I think about it, the more surprised I will be if Dickau's our backup 1.
Last year, Cheeks went with Omar Cook for extended stretches, planting Dan on the bench (where he belonged, IMO). Now Cook's gone, and unless it's Nash's way of forcing Cheeks to play a guy with a guaranteed contract, I think that Telfair will be given heavy minutes at the backup 1.
I know this is different than I predicted a couple of weeks ago, but with the Blazers' inability to lure Brent Barry, I think that Telfair's minutes are going to be much higher than I'd anticipated in the regular season.

I can see Dan being the backup point in the beginning, but about the mid-point of the season, after Telfair has learned the game a bit, I bet he will take over.

YEah Dan will be the backup nest year, when Damon is gone and Bassy is starting.

Telfair will not get many minutes. I'm sure Cheeks wants to win as many games as possible and using Dickau gives him a better opportunity than Telfair. The only way Telfair gets minutes this season is if management forces Cheeks to play him.

So you're a coach now? Or a scout? Which is it?
How much have you seen Telfair play? What kind of compettion did you see him face? How is it that YOU are the ONLY one who can see just how horrible Telfair is?

Holy butt lint, are you telling me that our first round draft pick is not good enough to hands down take out Dan Dickau? Does this make anyone else nervous?
I have no issues with Dan but man I would have thought that Telfair was way better than Dan with all the hype he's gotten.

Dan's likely had some tutoring by Cheeks. Maybe he's made strides. Who are we to second guess?

Dan just has more experience with NBA sets and knowing how to move. He will likely start as the backup, but I do agree that by the middle of the season he will be 3rd string and Bassy will be getting 8-15 minutes a night.

Dickau's not only more experienced, he's almost 7 years older. He just has to be more physically mature than Sabastian.

I will say this... From what I saw, Telfair was the better point guard. He was just more aggressive. He was more in control. He was a leader. Dan is quiet. He isn't as confident as Bassy. Sebastian is also the better defender BY FAR... I don't think Quick was correct in saying Dickau was the decided backup. Not even close...

If I'm Telfair, hearing JQuick sell me short (no pun intended) is music to my ears. We all know JQuick is about as bad a talent evaluator as there is, especially when it comes to PGs.
Telfair's detractors would have us believe he'll be a horrid defender. If he's far better on D than Dickau and Dickau is regarded a fairly average defender ... wait, that doesn't quite make sense.
Dan
