Thanks for the heads-up, Nate!
But is this really "conference-worthy"? I'd really like to see Nick introduced to the local media & fans...

I was thinking the same thing PBF, I would think bringing in NVE would be more worthy of an press conference... After all, that deal is done and the Hassell deal could still be matched by the Wolves... odd.

trust me guys, I've been thinking the same thing.... I'm not sure why they're having a conference for signing Hassell until after the 15 days....

Unless....
...maybe the Wolves have already communicated to the Blazers that they don't intend to match the offer???
Something fishy here in river-town...

On second thought, nah, I don't think this is strange. For the past couple of weeks, we fans and some of the local media have been clamoring for the Blazers to show some activity this off-season. Maybe they decided to put a conference around Hassell signing the offer sheet just to show people - in a public way - that they're doing something. That's not too far-fatched an explanation.

Ok guys I am trying not to be X-Files Schilly, but they would not hold a PC simply for the signing of an offer sheet.
In addition if they were introducing NVE to the city we would know that's what the PC was for.
Now it may be nothing real exciting, but the fact that there is no kind of indication of what it may be is in fact a little intrigueing.

I bet they would. A lot of people around here (Portland) have been feeling like Nash has been sitting on his hands this off-season with the relative lack of visible movement. I bet this is simply part of the "openness" promise. You know, "announcing stuff when there's stuff to announce", as Nash tells it.

Yep, and I bet that will be happening soon, too. They did say it was going to happen this week.

I'm gonna take this one at face value and assume that they'll be announcing Hassell's signing of the sheet. No more, no less. The dude IS in town today, and what better way to make the guy feel wanted than to hold a press conference to announce his signing of an offer sheet?

I still think (maybe wishing) NVE will not even be in a Blazer uniform. I think he will be traded before he ever gets the chance.
I still think a three way deal with Dallas or Houston will go down with us getting something from the third team

I don't think so. The Blazers have already set up a form on Blazers.com that you can use to welcome Nick to Portland and to the team. Why would they bother with that if they were planning to trade him away (assuming they could trade him - which they can't for almost two whole months).

Good point PBF, they were just my wishes or feelings or speculations. But then again, it could be a smoke screen to write Nick
But as to the last part, you are incorrect. They CAN trade him now on his own. He just can not be combined with other players until the 60 days is up.

Where I work, the left hand often doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Heck, for that matter, the right hand doesn't even know what the right hand is doing - let alone, the left hand!
