IDEA: Damon + Qyntel for Kidd
Portland trades:
PG Damon Stoudamire (13.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.1 apg in 38.0 minutes)
SF Qyntel Woods (3.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 10.8 minutes)
Portland receives:
PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.5 ppg, +0.4 rpg, and +2.4 apg.
New Jersey trades:
PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)
New Jersey receives:
PG Damon Stoudamire (13.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.1 apg in 82 games)
SF Qyntel Woods (3.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 62 games)
Change in team outlook: +1.5 ppg, -0.4 rpg, and -2.4 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
New Jersey gets two expiring contracts, which would seem to fit in well with their plan. The Blazers get another upgrade (look at those assist numbers!) to their back-court. Kidd is probably one of those guys the Blazers had their eye on when Damon's contract expired next summer anyway.
Would you do this?

man, I loath threads titled like this.
exclamation points should be reserved for actual deals that have happened, not wet dreams.
is it really so hard to put "Trade Idea: " in front of it?

Sorry, Wanker. I just got excited about the possibilities. I didn't mean to mislead anyone, and will try to use more accurate subject lines in the future.
But would you do it?

I think something like this could happen, primarily because the Nets are now clearly in a rebuilding mode and keeping Kidd and his massive contract no longer makes any sense for them. But, based on yesterday's trade where the Nets dumped Kittles for a bag of potato chips, I have to wonder if maybe a little more to it. The Nets now have a $10 million traded player exception available to them. They could be looking for more back from the Blazers for Kidd than Damon and Woods. They could use the traded player exception to take DA to fill Kittle's spot. If the T'Wolves don't match on Hassell, I think the Blazers would be inclined to do that deal. It would save them DA's salary and they coud use the $1 million exception to sign Person as a backup SG.
Probably won't happen, but it's worth talking about since nothing else is going on right now.

sallright. sorry. just haven't had my morning cup of whiskey yet. I'll lighten up.
in answer to your question, it would basically boil down to whether Satan would demand permanent ownership of my immortal soul or just sort of lease it. I mean, I'd be willing to rent it out for a few years....

I'm not sure that I like the idea of trading for kid. for a couple reasons.
1. He's got a long large contract.
2. He's not a young pup any more...see point #1
3. We drafted a potentially brilliant PG for the near future Telfair, see point #1
But there is good too.
1. Kid is taller then Damon
2. Kid is a bigger name
3. I would rather Telfair learn from Kid then Damon
