On August 24th, 2004....
Hello:
We currently, as a team, have a couple needs.
1. Shooting Guard that can hit the deep 3 and score.
2. Backup big men, especially at Center.
I have a proposed trade that solves 2 of those team needs.
Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes)
SF Qyntel Woods (3.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 10.8 minutes)
Portland receives: C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes)
SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.7 ppg, -3.5 rpg, and +1.6 apg.
Dallas trades: C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes)
SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games)
SF Qyntel Woods (3.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 62 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.7 ppg, +3.5 rpg, and -1.6 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Due to Portland and Dallas being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Portland and Dallas had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
I believe that in this moment of time, Jerry Stackhouse's value is at an all-time low. He's coming off an injury-riddled year and his stock is extremely low for a player of his caliber. People forget that he was coming off a 24 ppg year only last season, not to mention his Detroit days of 28 ppg. He can hit the 3 and score for us. Shawn Bradley is a decent backup center that can block shots and be a big body in the paint not named Vladimir Stepania. I threw in Qyntel to spice up the deal by adding a young athletic wing prospect.
Opinions?

Not bad, but is it really better than the Minnesota deal?

I dunno... Stack's a ball hog, Wahad has a bad contract and is oft injured and Bradley... well, he's Shawn Bradley. It's too bad that you weren't around (posting, at least) for the heated Bonzi/Stack debate. It was of epic proportions. The main thing I don't like is that Stackhouse is the main piece in this trade, someone who I don't think would solve many problems as he's a 40% shooter and only 30% behind the line. We'd be making trades for the sake of making trades here.

True, but from what I remember he is a very good FT shooter. Somewhere around 90%. And I don't know about al of you, but I'm SICK AND TIRED of watching the Blazers miss FT after FT at the ends of games. Damon and Shareef are the only guys I feel OK with about shooting foul shots, and even that can only take us so far.
Stack could really help at the end of games when teams take advantage of our poor free throw shooting.

I'd be hard pressed to find three players I like less. NO WAY POR should do this deal. Wahad has 3 years left on a terrible deal & frankly I am not sure if he can even play anymore. Did he even see the court last year?
Bradley is just awful, and he has 4 years left on his deal. Stepania is asa good or better than Bradley IMO, he is really worthless out there on the court.
As for Brickhouse, no thanks. A selfish player, I have NEVER liked his game. Yuck is right, this trade would piss me off as a Blazer fan.
