Somebody please tell Mike Rice ...
... that there is no "R" in "Stojakovic".
He keeps calling him "Stroy-awk-uh-vitch"
LOL

Yeah, I guess he does do that. So let me get your opinion, how do you think Nash has done in his 1st year?

Mediocre, but I'll give him an incomplete.
I like the moves we made during the season last year.
This offseason - not so much. Nick Van Exel is a mystery. Is he going to behave? Are his knees healthy? If not, and if DA gets his annual injury that takes him out of 30% of the season, get ready for a starting backcourt of Damon and Richie Frahm, who will each have to play 35 minutes a night. I don't like how we're treating Darius, but maybe lowballing him and saving money will pay off, assuming Darius isn't pissed off. I expected a trade with SAR bringing us a top-tier shooting guard, but maybe we'll get a great deal the further along the summer goes.
This offseason has been just a "maybe this will happen" type of summer. I keep holding out hope.
But let's put it this way. Nash's offseason history doesn't exactly give me reason to be optimistic.

1. I think NVE is a great pickup. Fantastic clutch player who may or may not be healthy. Unfortunately I'd rather have Richie Frahm out there instead of DA. Obviously we'll still have Miles who can play that spot as well.
2. Miles. It would be nice to have him all signed up but to do so, we'd probably end up overpaying which is the method Whitsitt used to get the Blazers into the salary mess in the first place. In my opinion, this way makes perfect sense. See what the market values him at and then beat it. While it seems like a big risk to the Blazers to only sign him for one year, it's also a big risk to Miles. My guess is that he will either be traded or be with the Blazers for the next 5 or 6 years. They won't let him just walk away.
3. SAR. I agree with you. The thing people need to keep in mind is that the best deals come when you have the leverage. Right now the Blazers have no leverage. He didn't play too well for us last season, he's demanded a trade and it seems like he doesn't really have a valued spot on this team. Wait until he's had a chance to contribute, or it gets close to the trade deadline and I'm sure that the quality of offers will quickly increase.
(by the way, not really argueing your post - just using it to toss my two cents in on a couple of things.)

My :
1) I think the NVE trade was a steal. We gave up DD who is washed up and Dickau who is a 26yr. old bust. We got back a good player if his knee is alright which I think it is. It doesn't hurt our cap situation at all, because if we don't like what NVE has done next year we just don't pick up his option, if we just decide to keep him for a year, and not resign Damon we could then just have Nick and Telfair man the PG for 05-06.
2) I think we will lock DMiles up long term. He is finding out every1 has used their cap, and also that next year you got some good people becoming FA's. I think they'll work out a deal, also I don't think Daruis is offended just in shock.
3)SAR is a whiny *****. Thats all I have to say about him.

I loved all the moves he made last season. I liked the Davis+Dickau = Van Exel trade. I'm frustrated that Barry decided to sign with the Spurs. I'm frustrated that the Wolves matched our offer to Hassell. I'm frustrated by all the issues still open on the Blazers' plate right now.
But, IMO, I can't grade the guy until the end of the season. We'll know what the team will be when the trade deadline arrives, but we won't know how competitive it is until the dust settles on the season. That's when I'll grade him.
