Kudos to Nash
Nash could have dealt Rahim for garbage a long time ago. He had plenty of offers, from multiple teams. But he knew he could get more, and he hung in there and was patient, despite lots of carping from Rahim and lots of whining from impatient fans. Now he seems to be on the verge of getting Jason Kidd for Rahim, which would have been unthinkable 6 months ago.
Talk about playing your cards right!
If Nash pulls this off, he gets my vote for GM of the year.

this is a huge gamble taking Kidd. Cant they wait until preseason starts and watch Kidd and see if he can play. This can also come back to bite Nash in the ***. Taking on a huge contract that doesnt put up. New jersey liked to run its a much different offense he thrived in. Plus you have NVE and Stoudmire. Adding talent hasnt always taken the Blazer's to the promise land. We wont know if this helps you or not until we see the team take the floor. Certainly from a PR standpoint its good. Especially when they loose Stoudmire this summer. PR and marketing is a big deal for the team right now. This could help them shed their bad image.

Tis a HUGE risk, indeed.
He is getting older. He is coming off knee surgery. And he is signed to a HUGE contract.
But hey, SAR is not worth too much in my book, so I PRAY the deal goes down. Kidd doesn't solve our outside shooting, but I bet Zach and Miles LOVE playing with him.

While this is very true, Blazer management has to be weighting the option that he might be fine too. This move could be Patterson/Nash's swing for the fence home run that many said they failed to do in the draft, but only if it all pans out.
While I think it is a bold move for them to make, it also could blow up in their faces. Hard call for Nash and company, but I think that this deal could go down.

Not that you care about such things TH, but...
http://www.cracksmoker.com/NBA/NBA%20KiddJ.htm
From the discussions of late, it seems all most posters here are aware of is the wife beating... boy I wonder how Kidd would be portraited as a Trailblazer
I'll applaud this supposive deal if/when Jason regains his full health, but cross my fingers on a couple of accounts until then. That contract is ridiculous, but then again I've always been for the team retooling while staying over the cap. Damon and Nick could also fetch some high profile returns midseason.
Take this for what ya'll will... there are guys I run hoops with regularly here in the Bay Area who claim to know him from HS and college. To a man they have not had flattering things to say about him personally. The common theme is that he's just unbelievably dumb. When healthy, he is truely a hoops genius though.
IMO this would be a big time roll of the dice, and basically an admission that the whole to do about last year's pledge to the fans was a total crock... which I always thought it was.

STOMP--I hadn't factored in Kidd's dark personal side to my analysis, obviously. The news reports you posted make him sound like a devilish character, alright. Yet is he any worse than Zach Randolph, whom the Blazers appear ready to make a long-term committment to?
As much as I hate bad behavior by players, I'm willing to give a guy a second chance if he seems to have cleaned up his act. Kidd, though he has had trouble in the past, seems to have had a pretty good record recently. And, just for the record, if you eliminate players who have gotten into disputes with their wives from any trade considerations, you will eliminate most of the guys in the NBA, not to mention the world.
