After reading this, do you still want Kidd??
I don't... this further proves to me that he wont be the same player due to the knee surgery, and at his price, thats too big of a risk.

I don't think the Blazers were ever interested in this trade. Stefanski and Nash are great friends and i think they float these rumors occasionally (like about Kittles-SAR) in an attempt to inflate the value of their tradeable assets, or to just stir up some interest. The leak by patterson when it seems to be Blazer policy not to comment on trades supports this theory. Maybe it is working: reportedly Timberwolves owner has instructed McHale he must get Kidd. So if the Blazers main rival in their division ends up paying 100 million for a guy who almost for sure won't be fully recovered this year and maybe never, then the ruse will have worked. Of course if Kidd somehow recovered 100% and became reenergized playing with Garnett, then it wouldn't look like such a good ruse.

Note that Geoffrey Arnold doesn't talk about Kerry Kittles - who appears to have recovered almost completely from his round of surgery...
Regardless, this news doesn't change much for me, other than it lowers my hopes that we'll see Kidd playing as a Blazer this season. I'm not necessarily against the trade, though, as Penny Hardaway and Kerry Kittles are two guys who appear to have recovered to be close to 100% after having these procedures done, though after significant recovery time (and at age 31, it's unknown how productive Kidd will be in a few years, anyway...). There certainly is a dilemma, as if Kidd doesn't recover, or only recovers to be 50%, then the Blazers have a major salary loadstone the likes of which we haven't seen since a certain drug-addled power forward was sent packing.
It's a tough call. I have a strong feeling this deal will not go through, and it could be, as UF said, that the Blazers never really had an interest - they just wanted to get better offers by throwing this out there.
In answer to your question, this story makes me a bit more skeptical, but I'd still probably lean toward supporting this trade - even more so if the Blazers could scare up a decent backup PF.

That article made it sound like Kidd will never be as good as he was and definitely cooled me on the idea. It might be that PatterNash got hold of Geofrey Arnold and told him to write that article in order to temper the Portland fan's excitement over the deal because, as Ukraine fan says.. the deal ain't ever gonna happen.

Given the risks involved, the salary, and the fact that Kidd would rather play in Dallas, I'd rather see this trade:
New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)
New Jersey receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.8 ppg, +1.1 rpg, and -7.2 apg.
Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes)
Portland receives: SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 72 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.3 ppg, -3.0 rpg, and +0.9 apg.
Dallas trades: SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 38.6 minutes)
Dallas receives: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 67 games)
Change in team outlook: -3.1 ppg, +1.9 rpg, and +6.3 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED

I believe Portland is indeed serious about this deal and it is not just some rumor concocted by Nash and his counterpart at New Jersey. It is extremely risky, but there is no way you could get Kidd for SAR if it wasn't for his recent surgery. The Blazers are probably still performing research to determine the chances for Kidd to have a full recovery. I'm not sure what my opinion on this would be presently. I guess I would prefer not to do the deal since I believe Kidd will not play effectively at all this season.
