OT: Kenyon Martin Punches NENE?
Quote:
An extra on the scene informs me Nene and Kenyon Martin, on opposite sides, had been battling for turf and respect for some time - neither is a center, thus the starting four spot is up for grabs. Meaning, they weren't about to keep their hands to themselves. The usual infuriating pushin' and shovin' ensued each time either one tried to establish inside position. Suddenly Martin reverted to brutal form of a few years ago. He spun around on Nene, recounted the eyewitness, and punched the 6-11, 260-pound Brazilian, hitting him square above one eye, opening up a gash that necessitated stitches. Teammates prevented further bloodshed. Temporarily. Nene is far too bad to the bone to let Martin get away with a sucker punch."

I only thought of that right before I read your post.
please keep in mind folks, we can't be calling them "Thuggets", tho we can wonder why that isn't a new media driven nickname for them.

I suspect fights in practice are a lot more common then we're let in on. That said, Kenyon once again proves what a punk he is... glad that Nash was unsuccessful in obtaining that hothead.

Man, where's the press? You'd think this would be in the front pages of every news paper. Oh wait, he's not on the Blazers, its fine.
God I hate the Media.

That does it.... Nene' and Martin can not coexist on the same team now
They better trade Nene to us for Patterson
end of problem

I think DA for Nene and Lenard is a good trade.. Of course, they'd have to to throw in Carmelo though, just to make it fair.

I used to call them the "Fuggets". Of course, that was when they were so bad that you could see their body language basically saying "Fugget" by the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Blazer foul-ups were never on the front page of any newspaper, much less the front page of the sports section. As a Blazer fan who lives in the New York City area, I can promise you that the Blazers are not exactly front-page material out here, and never were.
The only reason you think the Blazers got excessive media coverage is because the Blazers screwed up so often that it felt excessive.
Regarding Kenyon Martin, he has a national reputation as a hot head and a thug. If the media were ignoring his foul-ups and concentrating only on the Blazers, Martin would not have the rep that he does.

Oh.. I disagree Talkhard.
Grab a basketball mag from when the Blazers were good in 2000.. hardly anything about them but gloom and doom..
Never, any good articles ..those are national magazines !
Sportscenter...national , hardly ever had anything good about the Blazers on many night that they deserved good commnents.
Portland would have a barn burner game, and any mention of it??
No,we would have to look at Shaq's fat arse filling the screen..and no mention of Portland.
I see alot of games on the dish, and many, many night the Blazers were in the best game of the night...ever show em on
NBA tv???? hardly ever..
That's national.
Many times their games were absolutely
classic ! And no news articles or film stripa of them.
Please ! Don't think that they don't and didn't get bum wraps.
I will be first in line to say something bad a bout them if they deserve it.
But darn it,cover it both ways and give them some credit too.
