I'm not a baseball fan, but boy this series sure pulled me closer.
Congratulations, Boston! One heck of a way to break the curse!

What reason does everyone have for disliking them so much? Because they're winners? Because they have the highest payroll in professional sports?

Well Snapper, I think I can answer that question. For almost 10 years we've watched the Yankees rewarded calls/breaks that just don't seem fair. A few come to mind 1) Tino Martinez grand slam in the 2000 Series off Mark Langston. He had 2 strikes and the pitch before the slam he took a fastball RIGHT down the middle and was called a ball. 2) D. Jeter's Home Run vs. Baltimore when 12-year-old Jeffrey Maier reached over the wall and kept Tarasco from catching it instead . I could go on and on. Game 5 the other night, when Damon & Ortiz were called out (when they were safe) trying to steal left reminded me that umpires give every questionable call to the Yankees for whatever reason. It was envigorating to see, in Game 6, the umpires overturn two calls against the Yankees (in Yankee Stadium) They were the correct calls, but had they gone the other way, it wouldn't have surprised anyone. Granted, the Yankee teams that won 4 titles in the from '96-'00 were good, maybe great, teams. They may not have needed all the breaks they ended up getting. What is remarkable to many baseball fans is that, in a year where the Yankees weren't given the benefit of calls they don't deserve, they lost.

My single issue withe the Yankees is simple...
I get sick of seeing them reload the team each and every year. It makes me sick because teams like Kansas City, Minnesota, Cinncinati, Pittsburg, and a whole slew of teams are forced, yes forced to go after 2nd or even 3rd tier players, and due to the structure of their CBA are basically prevented from being truely competitive.
In other words, money controls the outcome of the MLB season, and only a handful of teams are serious players in the money game, wiht the Yankees far and away having the deepest posckets...Basketball and football have rules in place that designed to curb the financial difference of owners in the league, baseball has none.
The Major Leagues are the farm system for the Yankees.

As a lifelong Red Sox fan, all I can say is that watching the NY Yankees blow a 3-0 series lead and accomplish the biggest collapse in PROFESSIONAL SPORTS HISTORY was oh so sweet.
Seeing Boston defeat the Yankees to reach the world series is all you can ask for as a diehard fan.
But, this is only a job that is 1/2 complete. Now they must finish off, what they have failed to do oh so many times in the past. That is winning the world series, and all diehard Red Sox fans know that. But even if they don't, just inflicting pain\embarressment on the Yankees and their arrogant fans, and accomplishing this unbelievable comeback will remain a sweet memory.
I thought Bob Costas said it best this morning though, I was never comfortable, as I expect many other Sox fans weren't either, until that final out. Being a Red Sox fan has made me a nervous wreck, always waiting for that other shoe to drop, that unbelievable comeback or mind boggling play\error to steal victory from the Red Sox. It was nice to see that NOT happen for once.
Here is to the Sox finishing what they have improbably started.
It's good to be a Red Sox fan today....
GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this get us off the hook for the 2000 WCF's now?
According to fox sports the 2000 WCF is #9 in all time chokes but last nights game ranks #1.
