Someone answer me this..

is it wrong for me, a Blazer fan, to actually kind of maybe kind of want Shaq and the Heat to win the title this year?

Until the Blazers are mathetmatically eliminated from contention for a title, I think it's absolutely wrong for a Blazer fan to cheer for another team to win the title.

Hap in no way are the Blazers going to win so why not root for the Heat. I would love it if Shaq's team won the championship. It would show Kobe where his place in history really is, and that's carrying Shaq's jock strap as he carried Kobe to 3 championships.

I would root for Shaq's Heat against most teams other than the Blazers. If they played Cleveland I would root for LeBron though.

My animosity towards Shaq has only slightly diminished since he left the Lakers. I can't bring myself to cheer for him knowning what he's done to us (and said about us) over the past several years.

HOWEVER, I would rather see Shaq succeed than Kobe. My hatred for Kobe knows no bounds.

So, yeah, I can cheer for Shaq and the Heat, but I'm cheering for the Blazers first and foremost.

I can see no reason for any Blazer fan to root for Shaquille O'Neal. What nice things has he done for us?
He only looks better because Kobe Bryant looks SO bad it makes anyone look better by comparison.
However, it is permissible for Blazer fans to hope the Heat totally clobber the Lakers in their two meetings this year.

What crandc said

One reason I still don't like Shaq is because by being traded to Miami, he split up a very fun and promising young duo of Odom and Wade. I really enjoyed watching those guys during the playoffs.

IMHO there is nothing wrong with rooting for Shaq as long as you want unprofessional, crude, meatheads to come out on top. It won't happen because he has few viable teammates so whatever.... though I do know that I'll be rooting for him on Christmas

While I would root for the Blazers first, I feel that I can root for the Miami Heat also. They are in another conference and I would only have to root against them two games out of the year, barring them meeting Portland in the Finals.

I would love to have Shaq prove once and for all that he was the man in Los Angeles, not Kobe. I think that the Lakers blew it letting both Jackson and O'neal go while keeping Kobe. Personally I don't think that Kobe is going to be having as much fun without the big fella.

So yes, I am going to root for Shaq to do well and if Portland is out of the Playoffs, Miami would be my team of choice, just to prove a point.

I agree with Hap, Howie, and mediocre man.

The Clippers are my second favorite team, and they arent winning anything anytime soon. But I'm a big D.Wade fan... so that makes rooting for the Heat much easier. Too bad my favorite player, L.Odom is no longer a member of the Heat. Now that he's a Laker, I might need to find a new "favorite".

Did I tell you guys that since the Blazers traded my favorite player, I became a Piston fan? Now you know.
