I agree and disagree with Play

Start Damon at the beginning of the year, but DO give Telfair that b\u PG position. From that point you monitor his play, and if he exceeds expectations (or if POR is going nowhere) then you COULD look to trade Damon and his LARGE expiring contract at the trade deadline and then hand the starting PG spot to Telfair, and still have NVE for spot duty (that is if you don't trade him as well).

The bottom line is that if Telfair is going to be a good player he needs to play. He may not be ready to start at PG right out of the gate, but so far (albeit in preseason) he has shown the ability to run the team effectively in the minutes he has been given. No need to put undue pressure right out of the gate, particularly when you return a a veteran PG like Stoudamire. But if he continues or excels in the time he is given, I see no reason why you wouldn't move Damon and start Telfair. But if Damon stays, then Telfair will end up being a b\u all year, and that would be fine too.

Like things stand at the moment, Telfair just is not ready to start.

However, I think that if Framm ends up taking the starting spot from DA, then Telfair would be much better at the Starting spot the Damon. Telfair is likely at least one year away from a decent jumper, so with DA as the SG there is nothing stopping the opposing Defence from collapsing on the Blazers. However, if Framm is the starting SG, then that means that he took that spot do in part to his outside shot, and that would help keep the defence honest and offset Telfairs biggest liability, His shooting.

Telfair start IMO if his outside shot was better, but just as an experiment. He is just 19 years old, and if he can just get to the point that he can be relied on for 12 minutes a game, I will be satisfied. Next year I would hope for more, but even so, perhaps not a starter. I think that those who think that Telfair will be fighting for the starting spot within the next 4 months are going to be dissappointed.
