Dwight Jaynes: Does this guy have a mental grasp on ANYTHING?
http://www.portlandtribune.com/archview.cgi?id=27003
Just once. ONCE. I would like to see this guy have a positive take on something. Hell, it doesn't even have to be the Blazers. He doesn't like the team or the organization. We get that. But would he at least prove that he doesn't have an enormous chip on his shoulder when it comes to everything else?
I can't imagine being a friend or family member of this guy. I'd probably want to shoot myself.
Ugh.

How so? His paper is free. They've taken to selling ad space on the front cover, which tells me that they are having to be creative about even getting advertisers on board, so he isn't even making much money on that front.
No, with Jaynes it's much scarier than that. This guy truly thinks this way. I've heard him act this way on talk shows, even before he had the Portland Tribune, which is only a few years old.

to tell the truth I liked where he asked maurice Cheeks; since you're running one of the slowest paced offenses in the league, why not call a play once in awhile?

Seems to me that, in this article, Jaynes is observing the same things that many of us here have been talking about for a while now.

I agree.
The thing is, it's EASIER to be negative about things than positive and Jaynes is always negative.
While some who haven't been on this board for long might think that I, too, am constantly negative, I've changed my tone to be consistent with the changing team... Jaynes is a one trick pony. Like Theo, except less entertaining.

Jaynes hasn't changed 1 iota since he first started scribbling for the Gory Onion. Let us recall some of his better moments:
Was incensed that the media wouldn't "out" the player whose EX-girlfriend had been busted for prostitution.
Proclaimed that Jerome K would never be a starting quality player.
Got bored ripping Kiki, so he started talking about his sister and father.
Annointed Clyde a team cancer and begged the team to dump him. (this was during the Schuler era.)
Told anyone who would listen that Schuler and PJ were great coaches, and that Adelman was the worst coach in the NBA.
I could go on....but you get the point.

Jaynes has been anti Blazer since Whitsitt. Since PatterNash came on board he has done some nice articles. What he is saying in the paper is true. Cheeks is horrible, the team as it stands now is over loaded with similar players that all deserve minutes, and spending.....at least until Damon, DA and Patterson.....all Whitsitt contracts are gone are out of whack. Zack needs to keep his nose clean for awhile to win respect from the many people in this state that think he is just another in a long line of "jail" Blazers.
I say kudos Dwight you got this one right on.

Yikes! You are taking some writing a bit too seriously. View him as anything else you see written here... no need to let it get to you. I know there is a tendency sometimes to view anything critical of something you like as despicable, but remember the media is quite aware that most people do not like the Blazers right now... and people just like to read bad things about things they don't like. Makes them feel superior or something... maybe.
Anyway, just like all of us here, Jaynes writes decent stuff, and he writes bad stuff. I agree with some of what he writes... I disagree with some of it, but I don't know him anymore than Damon, or the President, or you or Hap or Mixum or ABM (you get the picture) and I am not about to let him annoy me enough to taint the Blazers home opener...... GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hap and I had the pleasure of attending a Beavers game in one of the suites with Jaynes. We spent about half the time daring the other to snag the ugly mop he calls a wig...errr...weave...errr...hair of the top of his head.
I wonder how Willy Wonka ever let that dude leave the factory...ohh right...he was eating all the product.
