The Mo' Cheeks offensive juggernaut
Cheeks has his turbo-engine offense on pace to score 40 points against the worst defensive team in the NBA.
Way to go, Cheeks!

To blame this on Mo is just stupid. The Nets were playing a zone just giving Portland 5ft to shoot any outside shot they want, taking away anything inside. Is it's Mo's fault that Damon, NVE, Anderson, Randolph, Miles, and SAR can't hit a wide open jumper? Is Mo Cheeks at fault for Portland missing point blank 5 footers? Is it Cheeks' fault that Theo kept running through people on offense?
When Portland does bad it's all Cheeks' fault, yet when they do good, he gets no credit, it just doesn't make sense. These are PROFESSIONAL basketball players who can make wide open jump shots, and they didn't. Hold the player accountable for once. The coach can only get players open shots, he can't make them.
Cheeks has contributed to many of Portland's losses, but this was no one of them. Cheeks did enough for Portland to win this game, the players are the ones who didn't hold their weight.

Cheeks draws up the plays and offense.
I didn't watch the game, but overall, the ball movement, shot selection, player location on the floor, and direction is not up to par. Not even close.
Cheeks needs to get some heat.

Yes, it's the players fault as well, but I'd put most of the blame on Mo.. I mean, Frahm is there for one reason alone, outside shooting. Was he used? No. DA and Damon weren't lighting it up. Bench their *** and put Frahm in. If Mo can put Telfair in, in the first half, Frahm and Outlaw can log a few minutes..

This proves my point 100%. People to blame Cheeks without even knowing the facts. I can explain exactly why Frahm and Outlaw didnt play. Frahm was hurt, and will be out for over a week, I believe with a sprained toe. Outlaw is a slasher who would run right into the middle of New Jesery's sagging zone.

Sorry Tince, I missed one detail about Frahm. Even with Frahm out, why not play Telfair and Outlaw more? I don't care if Outlaw is a slasher, yadda, yadda, yadda. Could he have done worse than anyone else? Worse than DA?

Scout, you have a good point that Telfair should have played more. I personally like Damon's or NVE chances of breaking out of their slump sometime during the 2nd half, more than Telfair sparking the offensive. However, now knowing neither of them found their game at all, it would have been better to put Telfair in. However, Cheeks can't see into the future, so I'm not sure how he would know that.
In reponse to the "slaher, yadda, yadda, yadda." comment, well that is the answer. Outlaw is a slasher, unproven, and doesn't give Portland the best chance to win, not yet. If Cheeks would have played Outlaw and Telfair and a ton everyone would be on this board saying, "Cheeks cost us the game for playing Telfair and Outlaw too long, he should have put the starters back in." It's so easy to second guess.

This was my thoughts as I listened to the end of the 1st half
I listened to only about 2 mins of the game, thankfully. In those few mins Telfair played, and in one simple play showed me a glimpse of what can be for the team.
Telfair set up the offense, patiently waited for his man to go to his spot.. in this case DA... and he got the ball with plenty of time on the clock, DA squared up, shot the 3, and drained it. Perfecly executed play set up by the PG and the shooting guard had time to set up, and drain it. The SG did not have to rush the shot.
This is why I thought Telfair should have played more

DA actually clanked the shot, but the setup by Telfair was quite nice, just as you described.
No make = no credited assist.

Hmmm... now what was I talking about?
