I was at the game
Lord help us, we need some shooters.
I sat there in stunned silence in the first quarter and watched the Blazers miss shot after shot. And most of them were wide-open or very makeable. But nothing was falling. It was like a bad high school game. The only consolation was that the Nets were doing just as bad.
The Nets won this game on hustle, it's that simple. They wanted it more, and they played harder. On paper, Portland is vastly better than the Nets, but you have to play the games.
A few observations:
Portland seems to have 2 basic ideas on offense:
a) find the open guy and let him take the shot
b) Give it to Randolph and let him take his man one-on-one
That's it, really. No pick-and-rolls, no motion offense, no clear idea of what to do when plan A fails. Stoudamire and Anderson tried to break the defense down with dribbling, but it rarely worked.
Can we find a new coach now? Please! I blew $90 bucks tonight (parking, nachos, and my ticket) and now I feel sick to my stomach.
