Blazer basketball it's FAN-TASTIC...LY UGLY
I'm so sick and tired of watching the Blazers play. It's not that I don't want to watch, it's that the offense that Mo Cheeks is using is unwatchable. Damon said it himself. The Bulls offense is fun. There are lot's of cutters and movement. The Blazers just pass once and stand around. Durring the second half I counted how many isolation plays they ran. If my math is correct it was 87% of the time.......87%? That's just bad basketball. If the franchise really looked at it they would see that the reason people weren't showing up at games was because the product they put on the floor isn't fun to watch.
I really hope when Paul Allen "evaluates" things after the season, like he says he going to, that he brings in a coach that understands how to play "Western Conference" basketball. Not the Eastern Conference slow down, grind it out, style that they are playing now.

i find it funny...
that damon is the one that makes that observation...he is in my opinion the reason why the blazers offense has been so stagnant for so many years...and then he makes a comment like the one he made after the bulls game as if to say "hey! why cant we do that??" well damon the answer is right under your nose

Pot is the reason?
I honestly think Cheeks is more to blame. Damon certainly doesn't help, but Cheeks is the one that diagrams the sets.

This has been major frustration for 4 years.
This team barely resembles the Portland Trailblazers !
You should be able to interchange players thru the years and
still resemble who you are,The Run and Gun Portland Trailblazers.
I just can't believe how far the franchaise has fallen.
Newcomers here act like this is a good team.
UGGGG
People I work with that have had seasoned tickets for two
generations,no longer have them.
They say the same thing.
Paul Allen doesn't notice this??
Portland always had a style..
now they don't.
They should call them the "Lost Patrol"
It just kills me..
I have lived and breathed Blazer ball for 28 years.

Damon always critisizes others for things that are his fault. His is one deranged individual. He could be shooting 2-14, but he'll yell at Zach for not passing him the ball out of the double team.
Our team stands around waiting for Damon to make a move, but he is a PG incapable of making plays for his teammates.

This is in NO WAY a Damon bashing thread. In fact if you are going to bash Damon take it somewhere else.
This is a frusteration thread. Frustration at a product that has always been known as a run up and down fun brand of basketball. Now it's a plodding east coast style that isn't fun.

Sebastian Telfair's name shouldn't even be uttered in this thread.
This has zero to do with him.

I know exactly what your intent was when you started this thread...It just looks like some people couldnt help taking some cheap shots at Damon.
Oh and I agree with the original post...I like offense mixed in with my basketball....Unless of course we're talking about my Pistons Brand of ball..And they're the only guys who can pull that off and make it look good.

If Damon is so terrible at running an offense, why is it that we had one of the league's most potent offenses in 1999 and in 2000 when we went to the Western Conference Finals? Damon was our starting point guard then, too.
We had better talent then, sure, but there's no arguing that our offensive statistics have gone sharply downhill since Cheeks got here. A quick glance at the Blazers' media guide shows the following rankings for the Blazers in terms of points scored, beginning with the 1998-99 season:
98-99: 5th
99-00: 5th
00-01: 14th
01-02: 14th (Cheeks' first year)
02-03: 15th
03-04: 21st
04-05: 25th
I know the Damon haters want to blame everything on Stoudamire, but this team was fine offensively before Cheeks got here.

Scottie didn't get here until 2000 (the Blazers were 5th in the league in offense in 1999). In 2000-01, Damon and Scottie had the exact same number of assists (405), when Damon played 78 games and Scottie 82. In 2001-02, Damon had 468 assists in 82 games and Scottie had 294 assists in 64 games.

Thanks net-nanny.
But if you read the title of the thread, it doesn't give instructions about which players are off limits for discussion. riehldeal suggests that Telfair might help make our style more run-and-gun like the style you're pining for. Stop attempting to censor people.
